You did a good job with the pacing. I couldn't find the subject matter "funny''... but it is very descriptive of how things seem to be going in some sections of our country.

It's cuz there are often two notes played for a single syllable in the song (ie. the line 'Slee-eep in heavenly peace' I wrote as 'Sleep with cadavers in peace' as singing it still matches the tune. Thanks for commenting, guys.

In some sick, twisted way, it actually is somewhat funny! It's just a parody (however macabre). I tried to sing it in a soft, lullaby-voice and it was pretty hard not to crack up.
