Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"The Simpsons' Prayer"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

The Lyrics

Hard to believe this hadn't been done already...
Our father
Who art in Springfield
Homer be thy name
Thy name is known
Thy program shown
On Sky as it is on terrestrial

Give us this day our daily "D'Oh!"
And forgive Bart his trespasses
As Marge forgives thou, when thou trespass against her
And lead us straight into Moe's bar
And deliver us from Flanders

For thine is the cartoon
The Homer, the Simpsons
For ever and ever
Mmm.. Duff

Short but very funny and clever. I mean, parodying the lord's prayer with the simpsons, genius! Allelujah, father Phil! 555

The Church of The Simpsons? Yeah, I'll sign up to that....;-) 555

You're right, Phil, this should have been done long ago...but then it wouldn't have been this good. Cheers and three 5's from Moe's

Another gem from the twisted mind of Phil Alexander! Love it! The first parody I ever heard, or saw, of yours was "Mend My PC" on SoundClick. I remember thinking, "How did he ever think of that???". Got the same impression here....5s

:-) Thanks everyone... it's one of those ideas that seemed so blindingly obvious that I really couldn't believe it hadn't been done before. It pretty much wrote itself...
Rick - Mend My PC is one of my favourite parodies, of mine that is. The recording's a bit cringeworthy, but better than most of 'em, it has to be said. The latest one (the I Will Survive parody) is doing best of all of 'em at Soundclick.

Phil, let me know if you need any backing tracks, if you want to record any future parodies. I can duplicate almost any instrument, in any key, at any tempo etc. The software I use can make a cheesy sounding midi file sound like a real band or orchestra. I can email you the finished MP3 and you can lay down your vocals over it.

Now, Rick... that is definitely an offer I can't refuse. How much spare time do you have on your hands? ;-)

Yeah, deliver us from the obsessive - compulsive religious.

Well, let's start with one. Which of your parodies would you most like to record? Also, is there another way we can communicate, other than this? Is there a way on the messageboard? I'm not very familiar with how that works.

Drop me a line at philboatcix.co.uk (changing at to "@" to avoid those pesky spammers... that email address is getting 50-odd messages a day, so I don't know why I bother). Cheers, Rick :-)

Thou shall no other beer have than Duff. 5 of them. Times 3.

I am gobsmacked & amazed, especially when you said you wrote it in less than 20 minutes! This is quite a compliment from a Big Sister whose purpose in life is to keep little brother's egos in order. Never really been a problem with Phil, but then I put that down to my success. Waytogo! Imaginative, insightful, intelligent and naughty!!

I'd give this abomination before the Lord a 666! You gonna burn in hell. So am I. Let's sit next to each other. (I wrote a dead pope song to the tune of "Poor Judd is Dead" from "Oklahoma").
