The Lyrics

Some of these new RAD tools are very good, but very limiting. Sometimes the low-level languages are the only things to use.

(the stdio mentioned is an essential in C - it's the standard input/output library)
Old Macdonald wrote in C
s-t-d-i-o
And in his C did #include
s-t-d-i-o
With a .h here
And a .c there
Here a lib, there a mak
Everywhere a .bak
Old Macdonald wrote in C
s-t-d-i-o

Old Macdonald tried VB
s-t-d-i-o
Did "Hello world" quite easily
s-t-d-i-o
With a project here
And a window there
Trying more, wouldn't work
Old Mac going quite beserk
Old Macdonald tried VB
s-t-d-i-o

Old Mac then tried C++
s-t-d-i-o
Objected and it made him cuss
s-t-d-i-o
With a method here
Double-colon there
Here a #, there a !
Cannot work out what it's at
Old Mac gave up C++
s-t-d-i-o

Old Macdonald bought Delphi
s-t-d-i-o
Would not install at all on C
s-t-d-i-o
With a "Can't find" here
And an error there
Packed it up, took it back
Won't run on an old Mac
Old Mac he took back Delphi
s-t-d-i-o

Old Macdonald wrote in C
s-t-d-i-o
"Nothing's quite as good," said he
s-t-d-i-o
'Cause Mac's OK
And a PC, too
PDAs, WinCE
Cross-compiling easily
Old Macdonald wrote in C
s-t-d-i-o

I went to programming school in Boston, in 1969. Learned RPG, Cobol and Fortran. First computer I worked on filled up a room. Used punch cards!! Haven't programmed since. Guess I'm dating myself but, who else would go out with me? btw/555
