The Lyrics
As a freshman in Florida, I had to take the statewide test known widely as the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test), taken by students in grades 3-11. Most students in my state cringe at this, but this parody MIGHT lift their spirits and encourage them to get help before it comes. This year's tests, I believe, will be on February 8 (Writing), February 28 (Reading), March 1 (Math), and the NRT (Norm-Referenced Test) on March 2.
Children:
There's a time for each year,
That we awfully fear,
DREADED FCAT TIME!
When I write long responses*,
Questions by the ounces,
DREADED FCAT TIME!
When the studying's over,
It's a two-leaf clover,
And life is one pitiful rhyme,
There's trouble a-brewing,
We are a-pit-tooing,
THAT DREADED FCAT TIME!
It will not be cool,
To take that thing in school,
DREADED FCAT TIME!
Oh, my face's turning rosy,
As test time will mosey,

Few days filled with panic,
Now we're going frantic,

Math, science, and writing,
