The Lyrics

There's a go-fer, buying meeting food
He's got twelve hungry folk to feed,
Tho' he'd like to give them a banquet,
He's got a budget he can't exceed

(Chorus)

In a cop car, out in Brooklyn,
There's a cop with a rumbling gut.
He won't make it until lunchtime,
But something pricey won't make the cut.

(Chorus)

Kids are going home, now that school's out,
They'll need a snack when they walk or ride,
Growing bodies burn up calories,
Best if they're eating some thing fried.

Chorus:
Wish for Lox and Bagels, Croissants with butt'ry crust,
There's only one thing you can buy - and count on it you mu-ust,
Donuts Donuts Donuts Donuts, Donuts Donuts Donut dough
Donuts Donuts Donuts Donuts, Donuts Donuts Do-nut dough

Thought I might know the original song, Bob, but I can't place the pace to what I thought it might be...of course my memory might be a bit off on the OS here. Isn't this one the Kingston Trio did many years back? (among others, of course)...
