The Lyrics

26.10.04 I am gutted and stunned to learn of the death of much loved disc jockey and broadcaster John Peel today.... and penned this as a short and inadequate tribute to him.The UK has lost one of it's best & most genuine public figures ;o(
R.I.P. John Peel with his wit so gay
R.I.P. John Peel on this sad sad day
R.I.P. John Peel now he's far away
And we're all left sad & in mourning

For the sound of his music brought me from my teens
to present day time and Home Truths it seems
John's now gone, cant believe he's dead
And we'll not hear him Saturday mornings

Yes I loved John Peel and his voice too
And the music he played for four decades true
From The Fall to T Rex
and the Sex Pistols too
In Peru he did die - we're in mourning

Then here's to John Peel with my heart and soul
Let's drink to his life
And his wit of gold
We'll miss John Peel - his loss leaves a big hole
And we're all left sad and in mourning.

Beautiful - I considered writing something like this (but funnily enough I couldn't think of a title - RIP seems so obvious, now), I'm glad I didn't as this says it so well.

For a moment, I thought Patrick Macnee had died... then I remembered he was John Steed, and Diana Rigg was Emma Peel.
