The Lyrics

Well, a man they call Ricardo was the leader of a band
And this Ricky, he was a Havana man
Then a woman named McGillicuddy came into his life
So this Cuban crooner got an Irish wife
This was the 50's, turn back the clock:
This wasn't nifty, this was a shock!
But Rick 'n Lucy stood their ground,
And they soon was called the best dern show around!

Now this Lucy had a neighbor pal, the name o' Ethel Mertz
And her husband Fred, he was a real stuffed shirt
When the two gals got to schemin', you could bet that by the end
They'd be chastized sternly by the straight-laced men
Dem gals was wacky, dem men was straight --
Tune in for hi-jinks Wednesdays at eight!
And if you tuned in with a frown
By the end you'd find that it was upside down!

Lucy's schemes were often focused on her dream to be on stage
But her husband she could never quite persuade
And when opportunity appeared, she'd try to meet a star
An' she'd make a mess before she got too far
Said ol' Ricardo: "Hire my wife?"
"You must be crazy! Not on your life!"
But danged if Lucy had no shame,
'Cause she always got a peek o' lights and fame

Well, this Lucy and this Ricky was quite happy on the screen
But it weren't so happy there behind the scenes
Cause the leader of the band, he liked to toss his old baton
Into places it did not a 'tall belong
Cancel the series, pack up the show
Lord, it was so hard seein' 'em go
Ricardos made them 50's bright
But we still can see 'em, thanks to Nick at Nite!

Wouldn't think that you could make such a good parody out of a fast-paced bluegrass song. Good deal! 5's

Thank you, everybody! This was a totally wacky idea -- I don't even know where it came from to use this tune and this subject.

Nifty job, I smiled throughout! Was it hard to think up all of the verses, or did it just flow through you from a higher source?
