Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

This song is not based on a true story. It's about a middle-aged man who gets his car towed when he goes Christmas shopping.
Police towed my car
Police towed my car
Police towed my car
When I went into the department store

Police towed my car
Police towed my car
Police towed my car
When I went into the department store

I'm gonna have to walk home for Christmas
I'm gonna have to walk home for Christmas
I'm gonna have to walk home for Christmas
Because I don't have a car

Police wrote me up
Police wrote me up
Police wrote me up
When I noticed that they had towed my car

Police wrote me up
Police wrote me up
Police wrote me up
When I noticed that they had towed my car

I gonna go straight to court for Christmas
I gonna go straight to court for Christmas
I gonna go straight to court for Christmas
(But don't) Have the money for my car

Police locked me up
Police locked me up
Police locked me up
Cause I didn't have the dough to pay the fine

Police locked me up
Police locked me up
Police locked me up
Cause I didn't have the dough to pay the fine

I gonna be in prison this Christmas
I gonna be in prison this Christmas
I gonna be in prison this Christmas
Come out when I'm sixty-four

(They) Put me on death row
Put me on death row
Put me on death row
Cause I went up to an inmate and punched 'im out...

Are you sure the song is "Traditional"? I know Jose Feliciano has recorded it, and his version is the most familiar, but is it really "Traditional"?

to "Narf": you are right, this song is entirely attributed to Jose Feliciano; he first recorded it almost 40 years ago, and it's been covered by various performers. So this is not a "traditional" song at all.
