The Lyrics

The holidays are here - They're earlier each year.
I thought we'd have some fun - And that means everyone.
The blanks you should fill in - There are no gifts to win.
We'll have a good substantial laugh, when you all send yours in.

Jingle __________, Jingle __________,

_________ _________ all the __________ . . .

Oh what fun it is to ____________ (avoid the obvious here, kids - keep it clean),

In a ____________________________.

Jingle __________, Jingle __________,

_____________________ all the __________ .

Oh what fun it is to _____________________ (Remember kids...the obvious!) .

In a ________ __________ ___________ ____________ ________________ .

A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a _________(Santa says, "Don't be naughty!")

And soon ___________________ was _______________ at my side.

The ________________ was _______________ and _____________.

___________________ seemed his lot.

We got into a ____________________________,

And we _________________________________________ .

Okay kids - fill in another chorus, and submit your parody by December 25. Santa will bring a special stocking stuffer down the chimney to any of you good girls or boys who can also submit all the original lines to the wonderful holiday classic, "Jingle Bells, Batman Smells"!

Ok, the follow up comments got me laughing pretty hard because I just left a comment for Guy on another parody, commending him for not using the "Batman Smells" line! Were you kidding or are you serious about wanting to see how we fill in the blanks? If serious, submitted for ratings/comments or just posted on the Parodies board? Might be fun... despite that "keep it clean" rule. :)

Nice work.

When I submitted this, I was expecting,"Oh man, the guy's Mr. Rogers!" Well, sort of, but I actually wanted it to be received as a joke by those who would see it as one - but I also thought it'd be cool to get everybody together doing the same song, and just see what kind of inane stuff we produce. You have to figure the range of topic matter is gonna be extreme. Is there a way we could set it up so everybody's parody ends up in the same file?

The words of the song - at least as sung at my school in Gosport, England, in the 1980s - are : Dashing through the snow / in a one-horse open sleigh / shouting as we go / "Will you please move out of the way?" / Christmas is very expensive / but I never fail / to have a couple of bob put by / for the January sale / Oh, jingle bells, Batman smells / Robin flew away / Uncle Billy lost his w***y / on the motorway (repeat chorus).

All I remember of the way the kids in New Jersey sang it was, "Jingle Bells, Batman smells - Robin laid an egg." I wonder if there was ever a parody that completely spoofed Batman. It may be only two lines that ever really existed. As far back as kindergarten in the '60s, we were singing "Dashing through the snow in a V6 Chevrolet." There was also "Rudolph, The Six-Gun Cowboy", and my personal favorite. " We Three Kings of Orient are - Tried to smoke a rubber cigar." Does anyone remember these blasts from the past?

"The bat-mobile, lost it's wheel, and Joker got away, hey, Jingle..." There's definitely a more fully formed batman parody out there. I think Bart Simpson belted out something like that in one of the REALLY early Simpsons episodes. Really creative. Top marks and a delayed comment

I always sang this: Jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg, the batmobile lost a wheel, and joker got away... (repeat chorus) Batman's in the kitchen, Robins in the hall, Joker's in the bathroom, peeing on a wall... But that's as far as I remember. I learned it from my brother.

Well Megami, I may have learned it from your brother, too. I asked my nieces this vital question the other day. The chorus they came up with pretty much matches yours, and it' s about how I remember it. They verse we need some confirmation on, but it sounds good to me.
