Parody Song Title:

"I am a Plain Little Amish Girl"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

I am a plain little Amish Girl,
As plain as plain can be, that's me
And all the boys go crazy
Over my ankles and my knees!
I ride in a horse-drawn buggy
English pic snapping like Papara---?
Sell quilts, jarred foods, and wooden things
Enjoy a simple life, ice cream...

English girl wants something from me
A hair ribbon. I give it gladly
She gives me a strange Dolly
What is... a Barbie?

Strange face, strange body...

Of God, I'm going to hell!!!

I have seen Amish-made cloth dolls. They do not have facial features. There is a large Amish community in Jamesport, Missouri, about 100 miles from Kansas City. I go there to buy my shoes from a rural store just north of town. More Amish are moving into the Lamoni, Iowa area, too.

If last line seems puzzling or typo, it is not. Amish youth are told they are of God and not of the English world and to act accordingly. Pennsylvania Dutch was misinterpreted: Pennnsylvania Deutsch (German, mostly Mennonites). They still speak Old German.
