The Lyrics

The Krampus was one of Saint Nicholas' companions in the old German Xmas tradition. HE was the one that dealt with all the naughty boys and girls. The creature is fur covered and stands like a minotaur on cloven hooves, but has a demonic face and twisted goat horns. It carries ruten or tree branches as switches to swat bad kids and also carries sacks to take them to a river to drown them, sending them to hell. In modern versions, it brings coal and is chained (by Christ symbolically) . On Krampusnacht (night) one can appease the beast with schnapps as it runs through each village. Banned after 1934 in Austria and also by the Nazis, it has come back in the last two decades in those nations. As seen on Adult Swim as well!!!
You better bow down, you better not whine
Better offer some schnapps, I'm telling you why
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town

With ruten in fist and chain-rattling noise
Demonic thing comes for bad girls and boys
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town

It'll wake you if you sleeping
Make you know your soul's at stake
Snatch you up in sack cloth for good
No gifts for you, just the grave!!!

So behave!!!

You better bow down, you better not whine
Better offer some schnapps, I'm telling you why
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town
Krampusnacht is coming to town

Bad little children he drowns...

Eight straight 5s for this trivia! Who do you think you're kidding? I'll give you all 1s and wait for more 5s to come rolling in as a response. Pass the schnapps.

Dear Krapus, perhaps you've drunk too much schnapps already as I spent Xmas watching "The Interview" 56 miles away from my house yesterday and also spent most of the remaining hours having fun with friends at their place minus any e-tech!!! Then I wake up today to this garbage. Did you bother to notice that Max has 9 five votes for "Ferguson's on Fire XI???" Wth??? Not my problem if you are underrated or overrated. People vote the way they like here for whom they like or what they like. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this Xmas accurate tale which is being celebrated right now abroad. You need swatted with a rute.

Dear Rob: I never would have mentioned your glut of 5's if it weren't a pattern for nearly everything you write, from mediocre to lousy. It raises suspicions. No other contributor gets so many high scores so consistently. Happy New Year!

Krampus: You have illustrated why the anonymous scoring system is a travesty. When you get so many straight 5s and practically no comments to explain them, it means that the parody is getting no critical evaluation. The 5s seem to bloom whenever the cumulative score is in danger of going below 4. If this is a fan base at work, it is doing Rob no favors because he's not getting the feedback he asks for and certainly needs. All he gets are meaningless blurbs and questions about MIL matters which are the subject of a good many of his parodies. Rob is in the position of giving feedback to the reader! But enough, already.

One of your best.

Mr. Coniglio, you measure the quality of Rob's parody against his own output. Using that wobbly standard, I agree with you. Is your comment an example of tongue-in-cheek ambiguity, or a damning with faint praise, or both? Whatever it may be, the comment is one of your best.

@RA. Please don't link my comment to the obnoxious trolls who relentlessly haunt your posts. I meant what I said (Security code FKC!!!). GioLio

NP GC, the trolls will always be with us. It's just a shame that most are vets and not outsiders... sorta like Ferguson "protesters!"

Really interesting and fun parody

Is it that Krampusnacht is coming to town, or simply that Krampus is coming to town? You could have preserved the pacing with "Niglobartl's coming to town" (southern Austria) or "Namahage is coming to town" (Japan, on New Year's Eve). Anyway, I would like the parody to go on longer with the subversive idea that Krampus (or his equivalent) drinks all the schnapps he's offered and ends up in the tank with DTs. Of course, no Christmas parody is complete without Mrs. Claus boinking Blitzen. Or maybe Wolf Blitzer.
