Original Song Title:

"Row, Row, Row Your Boat"

Original Performer:

Traditional

Parody Song Title:

"Roe, Roe, Roe V Wade"

Parody Written by:

Guy DiRito

The Lyrics

Wade, wade, wade we vote
Intently with esteem
Morally, morally, morally, morally
Abortion is obscene

Roe, Roe, Roe V Wade
Jointly and extreme
warily, warily, warily, warily
Abortion is our dream

Roe, Roe, Roe takes note
Joins the other team
Morally, morally, morally, morally
Life is my new theme

Roe and wade agree
At the house supreme
Harmony, harmony, harmony, harmony
It still won't end this thing

And aren't we all glad that she changed sides?

Time has a way of healing all wounds and like a double edge sword can also wound all heels. I think this fight will rage on longer than the 2000 election. But then again we gotta remember Mike's determination to remind everyone about this at every opportunity. :D

That was definitely a good idea, Guy. I do, however, support abortion rights to an extent. I believe it is up to the individual and not the government to choose what to do with her body, and all we can hope for is that she makes the right choice. I am, however, glad that they are finally passing the ban on partial-birth abortions, because there are some lines nobody should ever cross.

And so it goes...

Just expressing my humble opinion, Guy ;-) No knock on your work.

The government that can tell someone if and when to have a child is but one step away from the government that can tell someone NOT to have a child. And if you can't trust someone with a choice, how can you trust them with a child? Sure, abortion is wrong. So is war. The only real way to solve the abortion issue is to have all the anti-reproductive-freedom activists pay each would-be not-be mother to let them adopt the child. In other words, they would put their money where their mouths are. But then, looking at how some children that the Republicans actually did raise have turned out (look no further than George & Barbara's kids -- and grandkids), maybe that wouldn't be such a good idea. Besides, that would be a tax credit for poor people, and we can't have that in Georgie's Fatherland. And, well, since Guy brought up the 2000 Selection, everybody who thinks Georgie Bush really got more votes in Florida than Al Gore, raise your hand. I don't see any hands raised! (Of course not, Mike, this is the Internet! You can't see anything of these guys!)

Rice - That 'So it goes...' thing is referring to the last line in the parody, 'It still won't end this thing '. Just cause Roe switched sides does not mean that the debate will end, and so it goes. I'm making no judgements on this parody. I'm simply stating something that was in the news of late. And Mike you do make a good point. War and abortion are both forms of legalized murder and so is capital punishment All are planned with malice of forethought and done in a cold calculated fashion. It's part of the definition of murder one. God's Word makes it clear. It doesn't stop with 'Thou shalt not kill', there are qualifiers on this in scripture. I don't want to get into politics or religion. I just know what the good Book says about the taking of another life but this is not the forum for this type of discussion.

Lo Tirtzakh. You shall not MURDER. Torah does not blanketly proscribe the killing of human beings. For some crimes, it actually commands for human beings to be killed.

Torah Guy makes a good point, but I just had a potentially awful thought: Someone might try to write "Torah" to the tune of "Lola." I won't do it. I'm saving my "Watch it, Mike" points for when I finally figure out one about Lieberman.

Michael, I came up with the most thrilling pun a while back: "Everything's coming up Moses." It was MINE, I tell you, MINE. But I Googled it to make sure it was SOLELY mine, and - wouldn't ya know it? - somebody else had already written a song parody to it. (Damn!) But the reason I mention it is that it's about Lieberman. Here 'tis: http://members.tripod.com/~jewishjokes/everythings-comingup-roses-liebermansong.htm

Guy, well written, excellent pacing and bravo for using your freedom of expression. I am on the other side of this issue politically and had to give this the weirdest score I've ever posted: 5-1-5, but I know you understand. I don't know if I've ever looked at a voting recap on this site and seen "1 thru 5" votes cast in ALL 3 categories before, so perhaps you are setting a new standard there as well. But I recall an earlier comment you made about getting enjoyment from "stirring sh*t up" and it seems you have been successful here (26 votes so far). Merry XMAS and Peace/Justice/Liberty for everyone (in whatever order you'd like them).

I think it was well written. Even though it wasn't too funny, I did like it. 5-3-5.
