"I've Been Making Up New Passwords"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I’ve been making up new passwords
All the livelong day
Every website that I’m using
Wants it done a different way

Can't you hear me when I’m swearing
What the hell’s my user name
Can’t you hear me always shouting,
These password rules are lame

Upper and lower case
Along with numbers too
Change every 60 days; it must be new
At least eight characters long
To help make sure it's strong
And nothing personal to reveal you

I should have changed my password I know
Should have changed my password with my new pin
I should have changed my password I know
Instead, I committed an online sin

And now I’m locked out of my account,
I’m locked out of my account
Yes I’m locked out of my account
And may never be able to get back in

A problem I am quite familiar with. One particular site demanded that I change my regular password, though I had not had any problems with the site. I changed it to "screwyou" and never went back.

Password rules seem designed to reduce the odds of the sort of brute force attack that never happens: especially a web site, where a few thousand login attempts a minute simply isn't technically feasible.. passwords are most frequently compromised when someone steals the back-end data so it really makes no difference whatsoever how secure that password was. The important thing is not to use the same one for your online banking :)

..rant over.. Excellent parody, nice choice of title sub, and I completely agree
