The Lyrics

From where I am (New York City), it's just rain...weak.
Oh the winter this year is dreadful,
But the heater is still delightful,
As this year there is no snow,
Where's the snow? Where's the snow? Where's the snow?

The outside's still isn't snowing,
And yet the wind is still blowing,
The night have turned with no dough,
We want snow! We want snow! We want snow!

Can the snow please show up tonight?
I just hate empty winter as norm!
Though it's gonna be a cold night,
With that said, I'll read some porn.

At least the world isn't dyin',
As you see, some milked the Mayans,
But to prove winter's not for show,
Gimme snow! Gimme snow! Gimme snow!
Jack Frost: No, screw you!

Simple idea that seems to work. Btw, you have two active verbs for one subj in 1st line of 2nd verse; and why did you change to 3rd person plural for 'have'? - night is a singular subject and 'has' would have been fine. Even with correct conjugation, I still don't get it - what is dough? Snow? I think 'porn' is a pretty lame rhyme for 'norm' here. There's just no need to introduce that element. Being racy is fine, but this parody's not about that.

I'm just trying to be helpful. If you think I'm being picky, just say so and I'll just skip your work.

Lifeliver isn't used to your style, Max. I am happy that you didn't get too off-topic or gross here. My main qualm was how you used the word snow more than was necessary.Cheers.

(ABC) As an Australian, a snow-less winter is the norm, so this one didn't really click for me. The mentions of porn and the Mayans didn't make a lot of sense in context, and you missed a verse or two according the the video link. Yeah, this one wasn't my bag, but it's one of your better ones.

No, sorry, Agri, I have to object to your observation. My comment wasn't about the style at all; it was about second-language-standard grammar errors (subj-verb agreement). I was being 'cruel to be kind' here, as I explained to Max elsewhere. If (and only if) he's a non-native English speaker, or culturally limited by dialect, he's excused. Natives don't need to be taught it. It's sometimes done deliberately, but not in this case. Perhaps you were just being positive/encouraging.

Btw, you 'Artistry' guys (Matthias, Bobpiecheese, Blaydeman and others) are giving each other good constructive, detailed feedback in the contests. There should be more comments like that on the open board. I'd like to get involved sometime but you haven't come up with an artist of the month that appeals to me yet. Some of the more contemporary ones I don't know at all.

@Lifeliver 1. You said, "I think 'porn' is a pretty lame rhyme for 'norm' here. There's just no need to introduce that element". Hence my comment. No offense intended. 2. The bulk of the Artistry performers were chosen by participants who are under the age of 40, and are randomly selected every 2 weeks, so I don't know when/if an artist you already enjoy will come up. But one of the purposes of Artistry IS to stretch out your musical knowledge and parody writing skills. Anyone can join in, any time!

Really, if it were up to me, I would love for it to be autumn all year 'round. Not super hot, not super cold, (AND it's college football season!? Sign me up please! haha). I do prefer winter to summer, and I think a winter (at least the whole winter) without snow is just pretty lame...so nice work!

Short songs are a double edged sword; they dont give you much to work in the way of lyrics, but you also dont have to fill 8 minutes of lyrics (eg, American Pie). the have/has argument is a moot point since we know what you meant and they scan the same. Could have been funnier... seems a bit rushed imho. Id love some snow right now, sick of 95*/90%+ humidity weather right now. 445

Well, I'm glad there's no snow right now because it's summer time but I am getting really sick and tired of this heat! I agree with Abbott and fall is my favorite season and if it could last all year then I'd be happy.
Blaydeman - August 06, 2013 - Report this comment
(ABC) I'm not the biggest fan of snow. I think it causes more problems than it's worth. But I do like cooler weather. Autumn is the best season in my opinion. Solid parody, sir.
