I'll be honest about this one: the first two verses are lifted straight from a weird dream I had this morning (complete with a huge choir and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.. !)
Rather than blame it on the cheese I ate the night before, I decided to run with it. This is the result; I certainly can't claim it as one of my better works (and I'm quite glad it's not my only submission for today!) so...let this serve as a dire warning as to what happens when you snack before bedtime...!

But hardly a grim felony, really

They seem pretty dumbed-down to me
We all know she’s called Miley Cyrus
Not Hanna Montana, it’s mad
And do all the Simpsons have jaundice?
‘Cause they’re really yellow, that’s bad

My friends are all looking at me - weirdly
Now they all say
I think far too much ‘bout TV!
But if I don’t watch all these programmes
How else will I learn about stuff?
Though working them out makes my head hurt

Also, there's all that crap on network TV - American Idol, TMZ, ETC, but don't knock The Simpsons. That's a really funny show.
I'm a long-time Simpson's fan myself. The one show I can't fathom is "Big Brother". But still compelled to watch it. That's the network that canceled "Jericho".

I too am a fan of The Simpsons - I guess by the end of this parody I was starting to play with the idea that it wasn't actually the stuff on TV that was dumb, but that 'the masses' have all dumbed down and TV was just trying to cater for them... and that the more they do that, the dumber the masses get. Or something. UK TV is AWASH with dreadful Reality TV shows now, and Big Brother actually killed itself off over here, as soon as the TV execs deliberately started choosing contestants who were guaranteed to be constantly obnoxious and/or social oddities. Of course there's still some good stuff on too... but by God, do you have to hunt for it!
