The Lyrics

Heard in ward halls across Windytown this season, and sung in the snow by little bands of precinct captains....
Oh come oh come oh Rahm Emanuel
And rescue poor old Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.
That waits beset by sorrow fear and care
Because a Daley no more will be mayor.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall come to thee oh Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come, oh come, our Wisdom from D.C.,
Who ordered all things, Chief of Staff was he;
To us the path of yes-we-can do show,
and teach us in Obama’s ways to go.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall instruct thee oh Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come, oh lord of political might,
Who to both tribes on the Capitol’s height
Time and again gave earmarks great and small,
And so did purchase passage of great law.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall earmark thee oh Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come O friend of Jesse's son,
From ev'ry foe deliver him
That trusts your mighty pow'r fiscally;
Bring him in vict'ry through the primary.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall fund raise thee oh Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come, O key to Ben Bernanke, come,
And open wide those banks that fear to loan;
Make easing flow forth quantitatively,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall stimulate thee Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come, Obama’s Rahma from on high,
And cheer us by your drawing nigh,
Disperse the gloomy negativity,
And give us hope through your audacity.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall pep-talk thee oh Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Oh, come, oh Daley of the North Shore, bind
In one the neighborhoods of every kind;
Oh, bid north south and west divisions cease,
And be yourself our Boss of Peace.
Rejoice! Rejoice! For Rahm Emanuel
Shall pacify thee Ch-ch-ch-ca-go.

Mike - WOW! You certainly know the original...all verses. Fantastic job! Do you think that Carol Mosley-Braun will dare to play the race card against Rhambo? If so, she just might be getting a dead fish in the mail...lol! ;D

Even though I HATE politicians, I LOVE political parodies like these! ;-) 555!

If I lived (or was buried in) Chicago, I'd vote and vote and vote and vote and vote and vote and vote for Rahm Emmanuel.

Good skewering of this Chicago-to-D.C. commuter. Like BHO, residency is not an impediment for Rambo. You might like my take on his previous job (which Daley may get, I hear) at ~misc/traditional1759.shtml even though it had only 4 stanzas. 555!

Some of the rhymes were stretches, but this was mostly good stuff - particularly 'Obama’s Rahma from on high.'

I had missed your take on this concept, Barry. Sorry about that. I salute your obvious inspiration and cleverness in hitting on this idea.... True enough, John. 'Emanuel' and 'Ch-ch-ch-cago' don't rhyme so much, and I take a couple of other liberties with the first two lines. At least those ARE the first two lines, so no rhyme scheme has been established yet. And TOS messes up the rhyme in the first two lines of verse five, so I've got precedent. (anyone buyin' any of this....?)
