I always heard it different, Rudolph the red nosed cowboy had a very shiny gun. and it was poker games not cowboy games. The sheriff ask him to kill his wife not Santa.
I like your version better!
Why would Santa want his wife killed, and why are the cowboys gleeful about Rudolph getting the contract? Is this a true story? I missed it in the Enquirer. Anyway, the parody uses much too much of the original. Please try this again and provide motivation, like Mrs. Claus was boinking Blitzen.
Variations on this have made the rounds for the past several decades (cf. http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/christmas5.shtml if I may be immodest). It is a home-grown parody, to be sure.
I always knew it as, 'Randolph, the Red-nosed Cowboy'.
I've sang this song every year at Christmas time for over 40 years here in Michigan. I sang it last night at a party and did a Google search this morning, finding this page. I learned "shiny gun cowboy" AND "poker games", otherwise, the words are identical, amazing.
Also, I sing "Then one foggy Christmas eve, the sheriff came to say ..."
We used to say "you would drop your pants and run" and "Then one foggy Saturday night; Sheriff came to say". We also said poker games.
I first heard a variation of this (Texas, the Two-Gun Cowboy") back in the 50's.
My sister's class in grade school sang a parody like this back in the 1960s at St. Mary's School in Long Island City, Queens, NY. Many, if not nearly all of the words, are identical.
"...and if you ever saw it, you would drop your pants and run."
In our version we sang "poker" in place of "cowboy" games. We also sang it was "the sheriff" not "Santa" who came to say on a "stormy" (not "western") Christmas Eve. The biggest difference, the last line in our version was, "you'll hang from the highest tree".
This is not the original author of this song. It's over 30 years old and was told to me by my dad. Not sure who wrote this but it wasn't the websites author.
