The Lyrics

I went to my daughter's school carol concert last week - the sound of all those little voices singing (remarkably well, it has to be said) various carols, including this one, did not make me think "Oh, how wonderful", as some there were heard to say. Quite the opposite in fact.
Insidious sound of brainwashing
Carols we should despise
These tuneless myths just take the pyth
They're full of countless lies
Yet every bloody Christmas
The same old songs are heard
Don't tell me you believe they're true
These stories are absurd

In singing propaganda
Our children's minds are caught
Within the net, before they get
The power of crit'cal thought
For Christi-****ing-anity
Would not survive without
The channelled minds of humankind
Whose faith has cast out doubt

Insidiously, duplicitously
They practice to deceive
With made-up acts mixed in with facts
To make young minds believe
I fear what they're becoming
Why do we this allow?
The vicar knows that as the twig grows
So too will grow the bough

You hate I call it brainwashing
What else should it be called?
Fake hopes and dreads to fill their heads
We ought to be appalled
There are no "Christmas angels"
There's simply no excuse
Sure I'm not wrong, it's not too strong
To call it child abuse

Good expose', but I bet all religions do this. Does this parody come in Muslim and Jewish flavors? 555
Phil Alexander - December 24, 2008 - Report this comment
This one doesn't - I've never heard my children singing Muslim or Jewish songs containing largely made-up rubbish.

PS.. thanks :-)

I have to remind myself that these songs are written by people. I find some songs more annoying then anything.

This is meant a little tongue in cheek, isn't it Phil.? After all, until they write some good new Christmas songs..what else can we sing?
Undisputed Truth - December 26, 2008 - Report this comment
Yeah, the Muslims just threaten you with public flogging if you don't believe. Same general idea, less subtle... Guess a crack on the knuckles from a nun's ruler falls somewhere in between.

555, and check the outtro comment at amiright.com/parody/misc/raypetersonelvispresley1.shtml (no one ever reads the outtros anyway)

Ann - I know what you mean.. on both counts

AFW - Tongue in cheek? No, not really. A little exaggerated perhaps, but I've stopped finding it funny, I'm afraid. As for new, good Christmas songs - there are dozens here at amiright :-)

Undisputed Truth - say, which Truth is it you hold to be Undisputed? I'm not sure I can think of any...
