Parody Song Title:

"Home In The Rain"

Parody Written by:

Tim Mayfield

The Lyrics

I just bought a home
With a 30 year loan
Though the monthly is more than I make
But Uncle Sam heard
With the help of some bird
I need shelter for sanity's sake

Home, home of the rain
Where the days are all roughly the same
And seldom is heard
An encouraging word
And the clouds keep on dripping all day

This Washington state
Sometimes gets me irate
Blinding light from the wall-to-wall cars
And the number of days
I see the sun's rays
And the dollars I've left are on par

Home
Here in the rain
Where the weather stays bleakly the same
And everyone brings
An umbrella and sings
While the sky just looks crappy and gray

Home, wet in the rain
Constant grayness makes me go insane
My windshield stays blurred
As I weave and I swerve
Cause I can't seem to stay in my lane

You're getting too much of a good thing. Send some of it to L.A. - we're having a drought.

What Yoidy said. Kind of a SAD song.

Yep, if it wasn't for the excellent pot-cultivation weather, the NW would empty out... ;-)

New England ain't a whole lot better lately. Although, today was nice. Well done, Mr. Mayfield. I liked what you did with this. 555

555 inches of rain. How did the theme song of the old TV show "Here Come The Brides" go? "The bluest skies you've ever seen are in Seattle!"
Agrimorfee - March 09, 2007 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Well-paced, each verse pretty funny all by themselves--a few too many ideas (mortgage, Washington, rain, driving) got a little confusing.

Slurp these watered down fives

(SOTM) Man, this is going to be a hard month for voting. This was wonderfully cranky, Tim...but drip-drip-dripping with wet wit. 555+

(SOTM) Very good. 555

(SOTM) I ditto Kristof's opinion. . .this month's entries were too much, how do I choose cutting points? I was very happy with my own entry, which normally I'm not, but it looks like February was an amazing parody month. . .something has to give, March can't possibly be as difficult. . .grade A Parody Tim

(SOTM) HA! You think Washington's tough to live in? Try the Midwest, AKA home of the Most Erratic Weather On The Planet! Anyway, good job.
Peter Andersson - March 19, 2007 - Report this comment
SOTM - Yesterday Sweden had the lowest air-pressure recorded since 1920! And we had rain, spring sun and then snow and wind all within like 6-8 hours. Sorry for not being up to reading a weather parody right now, I have a live on right outside my window!

SOTM - Sounds like the Seattle area all right. Or is that the whole Pacific Northwest? I always forget. Greetings from sunny California!

(SOTM) I spent a month and a half in Seattle once a long time ago, and loved it (inc. a beautiful week's camping at Lake Chelan) - I didn't know you were from there, Tim - very clever get with "And the number of days I see the sun's rays And the dollars I've left are on par" - we have the opposite problem in drought-stricken Melbourne - our reservoirs are down to nearly 15% of capacity - unlike this parody which has great flow - 555

sounds like your writing about my home town Manchester ! loved it 555
