The Lyrics

What if PA Senator Rick Santorum had won another term? Anyway, check out spreadingsantorum.com
You better fear God
You better love Christ
You better vote GOP
For the rest of your life
Rick Santorum's coming to town

He'll make a blacklist
Of blacks, yellows, and whites
He's gonna find out
Who's gender's not right
Rick Santorum's busting gay clowns

He sees you when you're voting
Fines kids aborting late
He knew that euthanasia didn't
Make T. Schiavo stand up straight

Oh, you better give now
You better give much
Rick said he'd donate
But didn't say what
Ricky S is counting the pounds

He'll outlaw your porn
He'll censor your speech
He'll keep women choiceless
barefoot, pregnant, and weak
Ole' Rick S will swell up your gown

Unborn babies
Have names and lives too
Bodyless children
Share family values
Rick Santorum's smiling our frowns

Something's not right, Rick
They're questioning you
They wanna find out
If Santorum's ass GOOP
Now Ricky S is wearing a frown!

The Reps in GOP land
Will have a fricasee
They're gonna build a moral state
To keep sex straight and free

So you better out Mike
You better out Bri
You better out Ralph
I'm telling you why
Rick Santorum's taking names down
Said Rick Santorum's bussing your town!

(ABC) Dan Savage would be proud of you! (do you know about what "santorum" means nowadays in the underground sexual community? ;) ;) )

All too well, Ag, all too well!

(ABC) You know, interesting, I have never seen a song with this many votes but so few comments---the subject matter I presume. . .while I feel it was overall well written, and while I agree with most of it in principal--I have seen songs by you I like far more than this one (half way through the SOTM parodies, and yours currently is one of my marked 5). . .I have plenty to read still in ABC though, and being that I agree with you on the expressions, it still may sneak in the 5, but it didn't really get me laughing

Thanks Dave. It's always been hard to make political humor laugh out loud humor, for me, at least. Since it's centered on liars in suits who are already clowns, it's pretty hard to make a parody out of a human parody!

ABC-Alright
Red Ant - February 25, 2007 - Report this comment
(ABC3) Aside from having to sing "GOP" in the third line as "gop" instead of "gee-o-pee", this is excellent.
Jeff Reuben - February 26, 2007 - Report this comment
I live close enough to PA to get this one. Good political parody.

(ABC) YIKES ... the subject-matter, not the parody itself!

(ABC) some good line ideas yoidy but unless I remember that OS all wrong I stumbled a lot on the pacing, and as an Aussie, I have no idea who the dude is
Rick C - February 27, 2007 - Report this comment
(ABC) I had trouble with the pacing in a few areas, don' t know Santorum but, have seen enough self-righteous Big Brothers in politics to appreciate your parody.
The Charnstar - February 27, 2007 - Report this comment
I'm not big on political carp, but this was pretty funny. 5-4-4. Sorry
Michael McVey - February 28, 2007 - Report this comment
Obviously you and I have very different opinions on when babies become people. On THAT issue I have to agree with Santorum. I no longer support the Repugnican Party because I don't think they're really pro-life, and they're the party of big government on issues where the government needs to BACK OFF.---MM

(ABC) I'm unfamiliar with the content (curse me, I'm Canadian) and the pacing was a little off, but still very amusing, Yoidy.
