The Lyrics

Finnish sauna is the second funniest thing you can do with your clothes off.
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!

Sauna! Sauna! Sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa-sa sauna!

If you want to find a place where you can sweat off
worries of the week and cleanse your body enough -
purify your mind and your soul and let worries off
- Finnish sauna is just the thing what you may have sought!

Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!

Sweatty! Steamy! Hot-o-hot-o-hot-o-hot-o sweety!

Warm the sauna up to seventy C if you're dame
Hundred will do just as well if you are a male
Come with good friends, step in, sit on and don't be ashamed
time to leave the titles behind and use your first name -

Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!

Shower! Shower! Showa-showa-showa-showa-shower!

When you feel the heat and sweat is pearling on skin
when you sense the smell of birch leaves and feel relaxing
Enjoy the atmosphere, it's like a party therein -
Finally it's time you to have a good showering -

Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!

Swimming! Swimming! Swimma-swimma-swimma-swimma-swimming!

When you've taken shower and you have cooled a bit down
it's time to hit the pool, sea or lake and have swimming bound
It purifies your mind and your soul and you soon feel sound
- so have a beer and prepare yourself for new sauna round

Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!

Sausage! Sausage! Sausa-sausa-sausa-sausa-sausage!

When the gals have bath-ed and guys have finished theirs too
it's time to fry the sausage and have a good time to do
Bring in mustard, beer and the chips and dip sauce - that too
- looks it's party time for all folks and me and for you!

Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, were going to sauna!
Ole! Ole! Ole-ole!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!
We're going to sauna, oh, bathing, we!
The Finnish sauna is the second holiest place for us Finns after the church. The traditional sauna day is Saturday - Saturday is for corporeal purification and Sunday for spiritual. Almost all Finnish homes have sauna, and it is customary for families to go together. Sauna is an exceptionally unerotic place. Finns relate to nakedness as a natural phenomenon, and each and every Finnish child gets to see their parents naked before three - nothinhg sexual involved. Sauna is also a good place to meditate - the warmth helps you to keep your thoughts together. I sometimes go laying on the sauna balcony, lift my legs up on the wall and do a short session. If there is a mixed party, it is customary the women go together first (women usually enjoy milder bath than men), and men after the women have done theirs. I often mix hop juice on the bathing water - it opens the skin pores and makes sweat to flow, and smells pleasant. If you ever get to invited to sauna, it is a great honour. Sauna is also a place where all titles are left off and only first names used. It is said that when the Finnish UN battalion builds a camp, after getting the GHQ tent up the next tent to set up is sauna.

Sounds a bit different but I'd be happy to try it

Yeah, but what if certain appendages (ahem) on your body shrivel up in front of everybody? What do you do?
Susanna Viljanen - December 15, 2006 - Report this comment
Yoidy, sauna has us Finns almost the same meaning as mikva.

The Finnish sauna is a very unerotic place, and each and every Finn has been used to go to sauna since his or her childhood and seeing one's parents and siblings naked (compare Genesis 2:25 - nakedness is considered a natural condition and does not arouse any erotic sensations). If someone really gets her two small or his one large appendage(s) to shrivel up in sauna, the correct reaction is to take a cold shower immediately.

Families usually go to sauna together, but when there is a larger group, women and men go to sauna separately.
