The Lyrics

Most likely voters do not trust either of the presumptive presidential candidates, and the ratings of Congress are at an all-time low. I was drawn to TOS by the phrase "willow tree" for Hillary, but I appended extra stanzas to skewer her likely opponent as well.
In top-heavy D.C., all covered with dough,
I lost my true government, snorting to grow.

Cavorting in treasure, discarding belief,
Stands a progressive government, worse than a thief.

For a thief will just rob you and take what you have,
But a progressive government bleeds you to the grave.

As it craves all your pay, you in turn do go bust;
Not one pol in a hundred can poor toilers trust.

They'll shrug you off, hiss you and tell you more lies;
Then costs rise on a failed road that bars enterprise.

So come all you young 'fraid ones who'd list to Bernie;
Dou't displace your affection to aggrieved Hillary.

For our freedoms will wither, in cahoots with Bill nigh;
You'll all see rights taken, planned ever so sly.

And come all you dismayed when quit Marco and Ted;
Don't embrace this election in The Donald Trump's bed.

For his speeches will blither, and his suits may still gird;
D.C. may be shaken, but never be stirred.

A better word-sub than "progressive" for TOS's "false-hearted" is "all-czar-led" in lines 4 & 6. Line 12 starts with "Don't" not "Doubt".

You're taking me back, Barry. WAY back. Why, when the Weavers sang the original, our government was almost, partly honest. Not the totally corrupt bunch of thieves it is now. The only difference between the two parties these days is that the Republicans will smile at you as they rob you.
