The Lyrics

My song title is the US President's favorite phrase to describe what he inherited from his predecessor. Based on GDP, economists backdated it 13 months before he took office and say that it ended well over two years ago. But GDP growth has been anemic, jobs are hard to find and the housing market continues to struggle. TOS could tell how he has denied responsibility for the poor results of his many attempts to shake off these lingering doldrums.
Oh yes, it's the Great Recession, (ooh ooh)
Suspended in time; who'll ring knell? (ooh ooh)
Right's greed was such, they extended Dutch; [1]
I only did know how to quell.

Oh yes, I'm the great free spender; (ooh ooh)
I'm lifting the world on my own! (ooh ooh)
I pray for fame and eternal flame; [2]
I'm lefty whose teams all are clones.

To steal from the heels who just take and thieve,
To seal what I feel Supreme Court can't repeal . . .

Oh yes I'm the great free lender;
Fed staff brings down rates [3] 'til we drown. (ooh ooh)
My theme's to be what I've got you free;
I'm tearing high One Percent down,
Pretending that cure still is sound.

Yeah ooh hoo
You'll reel when you feel what I'm smart to conceal. [4]

Ooh Ooh yes, I'm the great defender (ooh ooh)
'Gainst shafting the gay and the brown. (ooh ooh)
It seems to me that I'm hot (slew Tea);
I'm sharing no part of my crown. [5]
We're trending like Europe, aground.

[1] Low-tax policies of Ronald Wilson Reagan
[2] A memorial like John Fitzgerald Kennedy's
[3] Low interest and easy money for banks
[4] Until after his re-election
[5] Executive orders "when Congress fails to act"; jawboning the Supreme Court

Alternate word subs are "oft" for "just" in line 9 and "TV" for "slew Tea" near end. Final line could be : "With pending VAT, poor will be bound."

A better fit to TOS than "gay and the brown." is "gay, black and brown."

He's sure a pretender, all right. Wish there were some way to pretend the last four years hadn't happened.
