The Lyrics

Ahh I remember the days of childhood before my birthday! Getting excited to visit the toy shop to choose a gift! The 'Quickity Quick' lines describe the child running up to a particular item in the toy shop he may (or may not) like!
You're birthdays coming up right now
You want a gift to make you 'Wow'?
So do your homework you big boy!
Or you will shall not get any toys!
Quickity quick! (Pogo stick!)

So come with me and choose a gift
Now get your coat on and let's shift
We will all visit the toy shop!
And you can see the spinning tops!
Quickity quick! (Lego bricks!)

You just picked up a toy you like!
And you looked at that cool mountain bike!
Or maybe you prefer a trike!
Or get that baseball bat and strike!
Quickity quick! (Magic trick!)

Its now your special day today!
You're such a big boy now your way!
You're mothers made you a fruit cake!
And here's a strawberry milkshake!
Quickity quick! (Take your pick!)

Quickity quick!
Quickity quick!
Quickity quick!

[Fade]

Quickity quick!

Brings back memories. I was a pogo meister in my youth.

cool I wish I would have held on to my legos. They don't make the knights like they use to. I had pirates too.
Invisible Boy - March 17, 2008 - Report this comment
This was a pretty funny idea Jason, and ending the verses with different rhyming words was clever.

Thanks All!

John Barry: I miss my childhood days when choosing toys for my birthday or Christmas! So thats why I wrote this.
Ann Hammond: I really miss my lego set as well. Used to spend hours playing with it!
Invisible Boy: Thanks!

loved the fruitCake, that would make my Peet's coffee taste devine! I love Toy Shops, too! especially the wooden ~Snap Trains~. I loved to unSnap them & mix-up the order, drove GrandPaw J-One crazy!

fun parody.....always wanted one as a kid....my wise parents refused to do so....bought one myself at age 19 in a thrift store...damn near broke my neck

Jason - Light, clever and very entertaining. I still have tons of Legos from two generations of kids. If I ever sort them out which I don't know if I have that much time left on Earth, it could be a very interesting collective. It brought back lots of memories for me too. And BTW you are showing your age or you read a lot of trivia. Well done. I was never taken to the toy store on my birthday because my parents knew I'd want 5 of everything. I'm not greedy - I just like voting in the five radial dials. Great job here!

Thanks again for the two recent commenters!
Alvin: Ive tried a pogo stick when i was a child but could never master the damn thing!
Guy: Thanks for that. I do try to write well whenever I post a parody. And try and sort out your Legos!

Jase, this was absolutely cute as hell. You've got your pacing super-tight (I'm guessing that the inclusion of both "will" and "shall" in line 4 is not intentional....always triple proofread before submitting).....this is a joy of a parody. 555+

Wow! Thanks for that Kristof!

(ABC4-Q) Commented above - I read it again and it is just as good as the first time. Wish I could vote again - you'd get more 5s.

Now this is what happens when everything comes together so well, Jason. Great pacing, rhyming, humor, idea and execution. Some grammar errors ("You're mothers" should have been "Your mother's"), but they didn't detract from the read. 555

Very cute idea, but like Red Ant said there were a few grammar issues like "All the Toy Shop" instead of "All the Toy Shops", but I'm the last person who should talk to you about grammar.

(ABC) a fun novelty inside a classic novelty tune. I could see this being performed on a kids TV show.

Well, I'm not. . .I'm glad you got pacing and rhyming down Jason, but if your songs were recorded things like "All the Toy Shop" would be noticed by any ear much faster than the eye. Our minds have a natural ability to correct small grammatical when reading over common words, but not so when you listen to something. I thought it was cute, but I think lines like "You're such a big boy now your way!" . . .well it's improved, that's what matters most, and if you keep writing someday things like that (I'm not sure what your way means in this context) will be behind you as long as you keep entering contests and take time to read the parodies on top, we all learn from each other--I'm glad to see you improving. . .

(ABC) like Ag said, more fun than funny, Jason, but it was definitely a good idea - just needed more gags - 545

I still like it...keep on writing
