The Lyrics

Part 27 of "The Unfortunates" is the start of the civil servants action, a little less threatening than the original revolution.
HEADS OR TAILS (Whitehall Office)

(Another office in Whitehall, where civil servants, led by Stanley, meet to discuss their protest march)

Colin
The NHS is going to join the strike!

Fred
The teachers now have said they’re on our side!

Norman
Firemen, nurses, all on tow,
Ready now to up and go.
Nothing now can stem the tide
Plus, the press is on our side!

Stanley
The time has come…
It’s come…to draw up the plans for the day.
Be careful though…
We need to keep the Bill at bay.
But the cause that we fight for is worthy and just,
And with public opinion behind us as well,
There is reason to think that we could win the fight,
But it won’t be that easy, you never can tell.
We need to show the party in power
That we mean business, and now is the hour!
Mark, about time!

Josh
What’s up old mate?
You’re looking red and out of breath!

Grant
A beer and tell us where you’ve been!

Mark
Yes, out of breath and out of time;
She was there then suddenly gone.
The sweetest girl you’ve ever seen!

Grant
Well fancy that! And drop me dead!
Has Mark at last gone off his head?
I’ve often heard him pooh and pah,
But never quite like this before.
I wonder what he’s got in store.
He plays his cards right, he’ll go far!

Stanley
We must now make our plans
And decide what to do…
Do we march, do we strike
And if so, where and for how long?
Have you considered this…
The price you all have to pay?
This is more than a game
That we all have to play.
The action that we take is vital
Have your say…

Heads – we simply go on strike!
Tails – we organize a march!
Heads – It’s everybody out!
Tails – we start at Marble Arch!

Mark
Had I been more alert
I could have said hello,
But then again she might
Have thought me an outrageous flirt!
Had I been more alert
I’d have kept her in sight.
Now I hope that my world
Will change from dark to light.
I could be right or wrong
Hope I’m not wrong, but right…

Grant
Heads…

Mark
I ask her for a date.

Grant
Tails…

Mark
I sit around and wait…

All
Heads…

Mark
The side of happiness!

All
Tails…

Mark
I end up in distress!

Stanley
Mark, you should know your own mind by now,
No doubt you’ll soon choose what to do.
But more important to us all
Is not the girl you want to find.
And so I hope you have a mind
To summon to our beckon call!

All
Heads – we’re going to go on strike!
Tails – we’ll organize a march!
Heads – it’s everybody out!
Tails – we start at Marble Arch!
