Parody Song Title:

"I'll Borrow"

Parody Written by:

Arwen

The Lyrics

When money's all out, I'll borrow
Down to my last dollar so I'll borrow
From someone

I'll shop with the cash I borrow
Buy myself a speedboat, don't want to row
That's no fun

Friends tell me that they bet my debt will own me
That I'll see it's a sin to spend this way--So?

And when I need more, I'll borrow
Float me 'til next week, payday's so far-oh
Whatcha say?
I'll borrow, I'll borrow
Hit Vegas tomorrow
I'll win back a way to pay

What'd you say? It's the day to pay what's loaned me?
I'll extend it again for twen-ty K--Oh!

Just had to sell off my car-oh
To pay off the loan shark named Eduardo
In L.A.
To borrow, to borrow
Will fill ya with sorrow
Don't take more than you can pay

Don't borrow, don't borrow
I'm working at Sbarro
Lost it all
But I....
Still...
Pay!!!

You could have told me times were hard, I would have covered lunch at Taco Bell the other day (which you promptly dumped on your sweater, of course). Very good. The Vegas line put it over the top for me.

Good parody...top numbers

Excellent, Arwen - damn near perfect parody for this tune :-)

5's, good to see you writing more these days, Arwen!

I'd like to borrow your parody skills. What, may I ask, is the vig? 5's for starters =)
Ashkicksass - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
See, for me it was a toss up between Eduardo and Sbarro that pushed it over the edge. Excellent!!

Jeff: I totally did the "I think he's paying" glance over my shoulder when the Taco Bell worker gave me my total, and you TOTALLY did the "I'm looking out the window so we don't make eye contact and she doesn't wrangle me into buying her lunch again because I'm more like a brother to her" routine. Bastard.

Airfarcewon: Thanks a bunch!!

Phil: Well if that isn't a fabulous compliment, I just don't know what is. Thank you!!

Johnny: Thanks...but I seriously don't feel like I was writing less than usual...??

Dee: Right back atcha, Mister! Thanks a ton!

Ash: I don't really think I should have to tell you that the Eduardo line was my favorite, too. You're SO smart...thanks!

Viggo: Nice to see you...call me later, you sexy beast...

Paul: Well that's very gracious of you...thank you very much!

John: No really...I swear I will pay you back! Thanks!

Alvin: And I'm proud to be an American! Thanks, buddy!!

Actually, I was checking out your new speedboat in the parking lot . I was still staring out the window when I walked into that wall without breaking stride.
Arwen - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
LOL! And that, my friend, is why I love you.
Claude Prez - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
I was all ready to point out how great the "Eduardo" and "Sbarro" lines were but AKA beat me to it. Great stuff.
Arwen - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
Claude...well I'm sure I'm not the first one to point out how great YOU are...but I'm going to just do it anyway! Thanks a ton!!!
Kat - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
How can you get so many comments on the first day, Lady Evenstar?
Arwen - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
I make up people so it looks like I'm well liked, Kat...I mean...I'm very popular. Everybody loves me. ; )

Very good job here, Arwen. Best I've seen to this song. I just finished a mid-term, which means I've gotta go study for another one. And bear in mind that I'm serious about every statement in this comment. Later
Arwen - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
Oh 2nz...I always take everyone TOTALLY seriously when they are throwing compliments my way...thanks, sweetheart!!

(Although I'm not sure I believe your far fetched bit on taking mid-terms...)

Sorry about that, Arwen, I guess you have indeed been writing at your customary pace... I guess I was subconsciously still riffing on my comment of a few days ago where I said that I hoped we would see more quantity of your ever-fabulous high-quality parodies. So please take my mis-speak (is that a word? well, it is now!) in my previous comment above as a subconscious, back-handed, roundabout, inverted, reverse-polarized, Mobius-strip & Klein-bottle compliment! ;-)
Stuart McArthur - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
wow - so many comments - just in 1 day! Proudly, I liked "twenty -K Oh" very much, and no-one's mentioned that line yet. Nice one Arwen. I'm staying up late tonight to try to get some early comments in - 555
Arwen - November 04, 2004 - Report this comment
Johnny...I wasn't offended...just confused. Thanks for the explanation, though!

Stuart...I liked the twen-ty K line myself...but, as you noticed, nobody had mentioned it...so I wondered if it was sort of a bust. Thankfully you're around to boost my self esteem...=) You rock, buddy!!
Kristof Robertson - November 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Some really inventive rhyming, my sweet elf! My favourites..."payday's so far-oh", "I'm working at Sbarro" (as if...), and my personal fave "some loanshark named Eduardo"...(giggle!). Well done, babe! 555

You never cease to amaze me with your parody writing prowess! I am so sad to hear that you had to sell off your car-oh! I have an old one I will give you. You have to start it with a screwdriver and it only has 3 wheels but at least it runs......... EXCELLENT!!!
Arwen - November 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Kristof...speaking of sweet...have I mentioned how glad I am to have you back?? Thanks a ton!! Mmmwah!

Cookie...now that you mention my car-oh...several people know that I drive a Geo...I was honestly waiting for the "So...you owed this guy Eduardo, what? 17 dollars?" What they don't know, however, is that I kept the Geo and sold the Jag...=) Thanks a ton!!

Hi, Arwen! I was so busy yesterday I couldn't go to the internet; as a result, I didn't get to read this wonderful parody yesterday. Well I just now finished reading it, so I'm gonna vote 5-5-5 on it. Keep up the good work! :)
Arwen - November 05, 2004 - Report this comment

Wow. Sorry it took me so long to get here, Sister Evenstar. I honestly had a comment written about Eduardo and Sbarro until I saw Claude's comment about Sister Kicksass's comment. Great stuff.

Thanks, Spaff! I'll forgive you...one time...; )
