Song Parodies -> "Metaphorsbwithu"

Original Song Title:

"Some Enchanted Evening"

Parody Song Title:

"Metaphorsbwithu"

Parody Written by:

Tommy Turtle

The Lyrics

Metaphorsbwithu
Clever re-arranger
Of cliché, cute changer
Such saucy talent, bloom

Read: Oh, wow! Aglow!
Bestow Five and Ten
Such know-how, this seeker:
Attain the arcane

Pluto: Planet? Grieving
Joker: 'Bama, gaffing
Nails bizarre "Czar" staffing
Give gloss to proud bazoom

But night after night,
Miss Hallie, he dreams
He's bound to chase after
Her milk jugs, and creams!

Who can explain it:
GM, B.O.: buy?
Must combat treason:
Dress like Spanish guy!

Banjo: he's in mourning
Carving up his true love
Bluff, I feel her -- call you!
Pelosi goes ka-boom!

Serena, deride
So long, to Van Jones
Don't know death from life?
*More* spaghetti? He groans!

Fiddle around her
Neurons numb: dull drone
How to astound her?
Robot: fuses, blown!

M...4....ev- -er .... go!

Great tribute to Forsby there! His work rocks! And I also dug the pun on his user name. I wondered if he's a Star Wars fan. Anyways, this song lives meta4ever! 5's!

(From another South Pacific song) Phorsbwithu writes the songs we love, and that sure ain't damn bad! Salute! ;D

Tis truly typical titillating Turtle tribute, triumphantly transmitted to the thinking throng. T-riffic!

Mark Scotti: Metathanks!!!

Christie Marie M: 4ever thanks to you too!

Old Man Ribber: Bloody merry comment, as usual! Thanks!

blackjack21: Whoa, Dude! Ya saw how the FG responds to alliteration, and now yer tryin' ta git her all hot 'n bothered, huh? (psst -- it worked! good job, and thanks! ;) ;) ;) Tantalizing talliteration, there, Thorp-man. Aced it! The deck is loaded with Tens of thanks!

Such finesse, such sensitivity, such urbane wit and clever turns of phrase, among men, a god...

*Your* parody is good, too. :D

Wow! What a surprise. As someone who shuns the spotlight I'm bad about getting any kind of attention, I pretty much stay in my own shell, but I am sincere in saying I'm very flattered and touched by the TT "TreatmentT" and much appreciative of the nice comments. Great parody song too. I have a vinyl copy of South Pacific I'll play in your honor tonight.

@ Christie - FYI, I'm a ST fan but not a huge fan. My screenname is more influenced by my love of the prose of raymond Chandler, the fact that I see metaphors everywhere, and I just love the sound and rhythm of words and language. :-)

@ Fiddlegirl - I almost skipped you because I thought you were talking about TT! You were talking about me, weren't you? Or did I just make a faux pax? :-D

Ooops ... that should have been STAR WARS fan and faux pas! :-P

Another fine tribute from the Turtle.

Fiddlegirl: Oh, you'll get yours tomorrow, just you wait! :P (thanks, and yes, he's all that - no TTibuTTes for TTrash, you know)

metaphorsbwithu: A fellow turtle, eh? We'll have to share a reef-er some day... Film Noir prose, did you say? Don't get FG started -- or me started on writing it -- I'd send you some excerpts from our e-mails, but 'twould violate privacy.... and actually, they more are similes than metaphors. (FG says, "See? See!") ..BR Yes, FG was talking about you, and being sarcastic at my expense. See what I put up with? I haven't been exaggerating! See? See! .... glad you liked it. Enjoy -- very well deserved, from a fellow lover of language.

John A. Barry: Thanks, my friend.

For just a teensy sample of TT's Chandler-esque Hammet-hold on hard-boiled prose, see the prologue (to set it up) and the epilogue to the following. You don't have to read the parody if it's not to your taste; the string of similes and metaphors is in the epilogue.

TJC: Your commentaries are more clever and contain more thought than most parodies -- combined! :D *Loved* the ending! Thanks, TJ!
