Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"It’s Very Well He Chews"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

It’s very well he chews
Upon a pine.
Also he’ll put chews on a Spruce.
Trees are dyin’,
On the earth lyin’.

You know, he’ll take a stand
And mow it all down.
Then after the trees land,
He’ll ferry ’em where the dam site’s found.

And that will quell the sloughs.
He’d stanch the Rhine,
With time.

He will chew,
Not eschew
Any chew.
He’ll—yes!—chew like a pow-
er saw. . .lay bare
A vault of big trees.
He’ll never cower.
Life’s a beech!

And a huge well ensues
And grows with time.

What are the odds that two of us would use the word "eschew" on the same day? When one is as odd as I am, that increases the odds a bit. You sure get a lot out of this one tune. Would make a most interesting album some day if you can find a studio to record it.
