The Lyrics

Good-natured spoofs or good-faith critique are cool. Attack, hatred, or gloating parodies are unacceptable. At whom is this parody directed? At whomever this shoe fits. If the shoe fits, wear it. If not, then no need to take offense, right?

DKTOS, but fortunately, John A. Barry has provided a "few" examples from which to work. I chose this one, as a fine example of the genre. Written quickly without a MIDI, so pacing probably sucks.
We read and laugh with you
At funny line

Sometimes we find a bit askew
That don't tie-in
We know you're tryin'

You know, if we critique
From our heart, deep down
We just "perfection" seek;
Attack, hate, gloat? Jerk, get outta town!

I say, "To Hell with you"
Don't need your kind

Suck, up-chuck
Pooh, screw you
Let's tell Chuck
Boo! Hiss! Boo! Look at how
You're insecure
And hate your betters
Can't match, for sure

Your Mammy
Should take hairbrush to you
Your "song's" a crime!

John, do you have any idea how long it takes to search through 2400+ songs? lol."That Put-on Mel Loves Jews" © John A. Barry. All else © 2009 Tommy Turtle. All rights reserved. E-mail:

Well, I'm still kind'a in shock... but this was a great n' skillful dissection of a reasonin' man's problem...
and, on an upbeat note, you've only... 290 or so more to go to catch JAB!

2400+ - 230 is more than 290. Care to revise? :-) :-)

TJC was referring to the 300 different parodies of this song that JAB is doing. He's not far off his target - do you get it now?

I do get it! John A. Barry is the master of writing 'I Put A Spell On You' parodies!

B3G: Got it -- no problem.

Swuttc: That thought had occurred, but comment in question wasn't specific. I remembered the original announced goal of doing *200* IPASOY parodies, wasn't aware it hadn't stopped then (didn't follow those), and so the "290 to go" still didn't jive with that recollection.

FWIW, I scanned through most of them (titles at least) to choose one for an OS pattern, but didn't count them as I did so. Thanks for stopping by and volunteering the enlightenment.

Jason: No question about that!

Got bitten by the "spell" bug in this website? I know I am myself. John A. Barry is the "spellmaster", but you also did a great job with this song! I enjoyed it a whole lot. In spite of how much this song is parodied a whole lot, it made me want to see more and more! I know I ask for lots of things. Keep it up, Tommy! 555.

Christie Marie M, you are the pusher tempting the addict! I had toyed with "one" more version of TOS -- you asked so nicely, how can I refuse? Sometime next week, OK? Thanks for v/c!
