Song Parodies -> "I’m Bumped and Fell to 2"

Original Song Title:

"I Put a Spell on You"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Screamin' Jay Hawkins

Parody Song Title:

"I’m Bumped and Fell to 2"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

I’m bumped and fell to 2,
End of the line.
I was on top, but that’s all through.
I ain’t tryin’
No more or vyin’
To have most parodies;
I’m winding it down.
It was a rarity
When I passed Malc. . .crank-’em-out renown.

And so I fell to 2,
And that’s just fine,
Just fine.

Gonna do
Number 2.
Only slew
I’ll pursue for right now
Is to get there,
To hundreds, three.
So on I’ll plow. . .
There, nearly!

Three hundred “Spell”s I’ll do—
Still 29.

Speaking (or typing) as someone who used to be Number 3, I can say you're still ahead of Malcolm when it comes to being funny. And while his post count may be Number 1, the posts themselves are full of Number 2 -- and I'm NOT talking about his "The Rectum of Edmund Fitzgerald"!

You've put a spell on all of us that even Harry Potter couldn't 'expelliamus'... good on ya!
PS: Even Terminators need occasional re-booting!

John, if it counts for anything, as an Obama fan, I'm rooting for you. It's not your fault that you are #2. Malcolm is able to crank out at least 12 Barack Obama hate parodies a day, there's no competing with that level of hate. I remember a simpler time back in the early 2000s when the top 3 went "Will Tong, Malcolm Higgins, S.T.G", and Malcolm was in his place at number two. But I left, and chaos ensued. Trolls ran wild on Amiright, and Flamer Dragons flew all over setting afire to any and every parody, until eventually half of the votes were deleted. But we are back in safe, peaceful times, aside from Malcolms constant Obama-Bashing. You deserve to be #1. Quality of Quantity, my friend. Kudos.

Sir John - I too was at number three for quite a while with Will Tong and Malky above me. It's just not worth the stress of writing a lot of parodies in a hurry. Quality gets tossed when this happens. I'm happy at number 9 and I'm able to write with a lot better quality. But whoa now - you were a bit premature. You and Malky are now tied for 1st. Your name is top billed because ties are ranked alphabetically. How many "Spells" have you now written? You have the record for the song most parodied by one author on the site, I'm sure. Call Guinness.

I remember when you started your climb to the top. Not sure when you came onto the site, I guess I could find out doing a lookup by author but Malky came on in Dec. 2001. You have got to be the fastest climber in amiright history. Whatever you do I'll be glad to read vote and comment on your stuff.

Guy, I agree completely. I'd also like to add that I think the title of 'King of Amiright' should definitely be given to John, or at least voted for. It's not really a real title, but still.

555's - Maybe the title should be Poet Laureate of Amiright - and take into consideration the quality of your work, not to mention your generosity in reviewing and commenting on the works of others.

All I can say is good sport, 555. . .Personally I think "King of AmIRIght" is and should always be "Chucky G" but I find it amazing you can come up with so many titles for this OS
Silver Power - April 15, 2009 - Report this comment
Unfortunately the common conception is that M.H. is the King of AmIRight.

Many, many thanks for all these comments. Guy, l am planning to submit my 300 parodies of "I Put a Spell on You" to Guinness when I hit that mark. . .29 to go.

Johnny, you motivated me like Will Tong did. I set my sights on # 1 .. so? you write well, and I too am amazed at how many hawkins parodies you have penned. We'll shuffle foor a while I am sure, but now that my business has settled in again to a very manageable level of hours for me in it's latest metamorphosis, I will have plenty of time to write odumbas, and others. I write what I want, not what the nameless brainless one flamers wish. They can kiss my ass. You on the other hand, have my awe and support. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Malky.. as for the perception I am "king" of amiright, thanks but no thanks. that was a little word game years ago. we have a king every 30 days it's called SOTM.

btw. my parody of Screamin jjay about you, was not an attack parody.. I did the same thing with Will Tong the firsdtt time I passed him..I respect your skills and ability to be prolific and funny together to attack. Amazing how other folk can speak for you? if you thought it was, my email is in my bio. I would have epected to have heard from you. I hide from no one here, and I attack no other parodists. POLITICAL FIGURES ARE PUPPETS WE ELECT TO MAKE FUN OF. again I don't hate anyone. Used the word once, and my brother in Christ, Guy D. was right..I WAS WRONG.

Don't worry, John. You'll get back on your feet in no time. Yeah, I can see you breaking the record now. I always dig your awesome "spell" parodies. Every time I read and sing your parodies, I am always under your spell! You'll always be the spell master of this site! 555.
