Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Some time ago, I set two pointless goals: to post at least 2,000 parodies on or before my fourth anniversary on the site (May 21) and to write at least 200 parodies of "I Put a Spell on You," by Screamin' Jay Hawkins (this makes 202). I'm gonna submit a few more tunes over the next few days before I take an indeterminate break, to recharge the parody batteries.
My posts are well past two
Thousand, but I'm
Not counting many done with pseu-
donyms. . .lyin'. . .
Those bylines, lyin'.

I've done the two-grand bit;
Now I'm windin' down.
On sabbatical, me. . .
Parody's pasture for a few rounds.

Out there, more "Spell"'s I'll do
And other rhymes
Sometimes.

I did two
Thousand. Whew!
That's a slew.
For now, through. . .I'll rebound
To be back where
There are parodies;
Here I'll be found.

Gone briefly.

When my dry spell is through,
I'll post more rhymes.

Fine spoof of a terrific OS (and the first I've seen during my not-quite-three-months tenure here). Year or so ago I was blown away by Buddy Guy's performance of the OS at a small clubby venue here that, with all the improvised variations, must've vamped along for 10 minutes. Wow.

You put up thousands, two. Congratulations on a milestone it'll probably take me another year to reach.

I do love the "SPELL" parade, Captain Jack! 'Cuz brings me back to the 70's, slow dancing to this in the arms of Cowboy Dave . . . And his spell has been well caste!

Guy, this is an honor coming from you. Your parodies are transcendent, which can be said of several other contributors to this site. Lunch on me anytime, man.
