Parody Song Title:

"Power’s Compelling You"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Power’s compelling you…
power divine.
You’re puking what looks like pea soup,
so we’re tyin’
you up and trying
to get the bad banished
by casting it out.
Bad habits ain’t vanquished,
and nasty epithets you still shout.

But we keep telling you
to get in line…
divine.

We tell you
not to do
what you do,
but you spew
more “soup” out.

Father Karras snares
the devil. “Take me!”
is what he shouts.
And then he’s
quickly propelled right through
the glass that shines.

Never saw the movie. But "The Exorcist" was the funniest book I ever read. It is a story about faith and the loss or lack of it. A tale of good vs evil. Divine power against the power of Pure Evil. And it all comes down to a priest shouting "You SOB, pick on someone your own size!" And the Devil does. Priest jumps out window and the spell is broken. I wonder some time if the movie is as hilarious as the book. I gather from this parody that there are two or more versions of "I Put A Spell On You".
