Original Song Title:

"O, Canada"

Original Performer:

Robert Stanley Weir

Parody Song Title:

"Xanadu"

Parody Written by:

Michael Pacholek

The Lyrics

I thought I could be the first author to post parodies starting with all 26 letters, but it looks like I'm a little late. Canadians, please understand that I am making fun of an awesomely bad movie, not your National Anthem. If I could've found a doable song with the word "Extra" or "Extreme" or "Excess" or even "Exit" in it, I would've used it.
Oh, "Xanadu," a film that should be panned.
True film reviews say this one should be canned.
With glowing balls its scenes unfold.
The booing starts so free.
From far and wide, oh, "Xanadu"
we can't sit through all of thee.
God keep this film so far from me.
We stand and walk out on this fantasy.
Oh, "Xanadu," we walk right out on thee!

555. I previously posted a parody with the same title, "Xanadu"...wacky coincidence...'cept mine put Coleridge's poem to a different original tune. Good job, Michael.

My previous comment's bogus sentence-structure seems to suggest that I thought Michael's "Xanadu" was also about Coleridge's poem "Xanadu", but that's not what I meant to imply....I know about the roller-rink Gene Kelly movie "Xanadu", which is Michael's topic here.

I TOTALLY loved Xanadu as a kid. Clearly my taste in movies has improved...

Don't worry, Johnny, your sentence structure will not be an albatross around your neck.

I happened to like the movie myself; still, your parody is well-paced and plays on the original decently enough. 5-3-4...

What could be better than Olivia Newton-John on roller skates? And the soundtrack is such a guilty pleasure that I bought the (import!) CD.
