The Lyrics
Nursery rhymes often refer surreptitiously to political events or personalities of the time. Think of "Humpty Dumpty" or "Jack and Jill." We could use some new ones for the coming week in the US Congress. I offer five, of which four predict failure, and one success, for the majority party. I may have egg on my face by next weekend.
They diddle, fiddle, while fat's on the griddle.
Oh how each other impugn!
Republicans laughed, Dems came up short,
And their wish flew away like balloon.
Where, oh where have those Dem blue dogs gone?
Won't dare appear on TV.
With their years cut short if they fail, vote wrong,
Impaired is their liberty!
Bickering, dickering, talk;
The House ran out the clock. [1]
They knocked The One
And down he spun,
Slippery trickery blocked.
Bitter Ms. Tough-it spat, "I won't muff it,"
Beating House herds her way.
Along came a chider [2]
Who'd hack pro-choice rider
That frightened enough yeas to nay.
Tea Party Scorner chatted in corners,
Meeting to twist each guy.
She stuck it to some,
And fooled minimum, [3]
And said, "What a Speaker am I!"

Clever take on what would be called today "government subsidized daycare rhymes." Pelosi is the mother who's goosing thinks along. "And the Dish cleared the way for the Goon!" Bravo! ;D

Read these to my kids and they thought they were better than the originals - of course, they watch CNN, CNBC, FoxNews and MSNBC for their cartoons.

I'd change "Republicans laughed" and "Dems" to "Opponents stood fast" and "pros" because there are Dems on both sides. "Years cut short" means in office, not on Earth. Thanks for all v/c.
