The Lyrics

Once again, I'm a day late in posting a current events parody. Although there actually was an NFL Champoinship game (Super Bowl) on Sunday, all the press seemed to report was that the opposing head coaches were brothers. Highlights abounded in the game, and there were a few lowlights as well...a power outage in the New Orleans Super Dome, a very controversial call late in the game, and Alicia Keys setting new records for length and soul ornamentation in performing The Star Spangled Banner. I honestly expected her to start singing "This country's on fire!". ;D

The Har-Bowl's over.
The battling bros had their days.
We fans won't miss all the hype
And overripe cliches.
The game? Not boring
And lots of fun.
The final scoring?
Thirty four - thirty one.

There was a blackout,
A record runback by Jones.
Alicia's anthem? Too long
Way too souled-up song - pained me in my bones.
Raven's Ray Lewis - played his last game.
Did the refs screw us? Ask Niner rooters.
Niner rooters - yell "Shame!".

(Instrumental chorus to final phrase)

No hyped up stories - of coaching bros.
Just gridiron glories. The Har-Bowls over,
At last over - so goes!
Rematch next year? Who knows!

The game is over, but the partying still goes on for eight more days. ;D

Thank god it's over! Bay Area residents had heard nothing but Super Bowl "news" for the past week at least.

Nice, OMR! I won't be able to sleep soundly, though, until you write 'The Tim Te' Bowl' to Tommy Tune's Best Little Whorehouse in Texas!

555 pts! I usually don't write on sports but my coverage of my Niners did well until someone 1-bombed me... for what? I doubt it was a Ravens fan but another Niner that got pissed at some remarks I made. I'm not bandwagon nor immature, so a loyal fan CAN talk bout the team's and coach's blunders. I just wrote about Jim Harbough being a bad sport for tomorrow and it's true. Maybe he should blame hismself for that 3Q waste of a time-out or going for the 2 pt conversion when Akers could have easily made the single point after (at least we would have lost 1 point closer for the record books)! Jim's pissed b/c he will always be known for now as the only 49er coach to lose a Superbowl and to his brother's team as well. Boo-hoo! We lost b/c of first half mistakes like an interception, a fumble, penalties, lack of offense, lack of defense, and all totalled 22 pts behind. Great comeback and within goal... but failed, missed calls or not.

Rob, the Niners won their first five Super Bowls because they were ahead of the NFL power curve for 15 years as a result of hiring the brightest coach in NFL history -- Bill Walsh. And of course they won two SBs without Walsh as head coach but it was Walsh's system and organization, not to mention his hand picked successor, that was responsible ... Harbaugh shouldn't be judged harshly cause he failed to uphold that legacy

CML, I like Harbaugh but I don't like his piss-poor attitude since the loss and his complaint that missed calls cost the Niners the game. That's just BS. And if he is a good sport then why hasn't he talked to his brother since Sunday? Being a poor sport as head coach is a bad example to your team. I wear my Niner colors with pride even with the loss. Time to move on and hope for a better season to come and another attempt at No.6. Boo-hooing to the media about missed calls in unprofessional. I seriously doubt Harbaugh's job is on the line. He is an asset... so let's just hope he composes himself and moves on. Seriously...

Good points, Robert. On the other hand, I can't think offhand of another Super Bowl where an obvious bad call so late in the game had such a clear effect on the outcome of the game -- that's a bitter pill to swallow. On the other other hand, Jim should take into account that a freakish break in the game clearly allowed a very rattled young quarterback to compose himself and get the Niners back into the game
