The Lyrics

Estelle Getty, who played Dorothy's (Bea Arthur's) mother in the long running sitcom, "Golden Girls" died on July 22nd
Estelle Getty, short and pretty
We loved your snappy style
In that great show
About older ladies..
Always gritty, always witty,
Kept us laughin' a while
Thanks to reruns, you'll always be near

Golden Girl, Golden Girl,,
Playing the part so amazing
Wise-cracking little thing,
Yet always big in our hearts..

In that sitcom,
As Dorothy's mom
You were not really mean
Just the lovable
Mistress of sassy..

Dear Sophia
We'll still see ya'
As the snappy colleen..
Thanks to returns, you'll always be here

Golden Girl, Golden Girl,
Playing your part so amazing,
Wise-cracking little thing,
Yet always big in our hearts

You're always big in our hearts..

Very sweet. I never liked that show because middle aged women were so stereotyped. The only episode I liked was the one where Bea Arthur came down with chronic fatigue syndrome which is a disorder that has all but been sweeped under the rug.

Sir L'Air de Farce, thanks for remembering this talented actress, who made us laugh & think about our own family relationships! She & Ms Arthur created some real classic TV entertainment. Thank you, Sir ~ Lord o'Edge~
