Song Parodies -> "Senator Al Franken"

Original Song Title:

"The Yellow Rose Of Texas"

Original Performer:

Mitch Miller

Parody Song Title:

"Senator Al Franken"

Parody Written by:

Old Man Ribber

The Lyrics

Al Franken, former writer for Saturday Night Live, political author/pundit ("Rush Limbaugh Is A Fat Idiot"), and headliner of Air America (the failed liberal radio talk network), was elected to the U.S. Senate in a highly disputed race. He now represents Minnesota, a state which once elected former professional wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura as governor (I'm not making this up!). He now occupies the position once held by Hubert Humphrey, Eugene McCarthy, and Walter Mondale - all of whom were on the whole much wittier.
I'm the new man in the Senate
And the Democrats are wired
Flew in from Minnesota
And boy, are my arms tired!
'Though I've never been in government
Or public service work
I'll do for this great great country
What I did to my network

For I'm Senator Al Franken
Darling of the left wing folks
I used to work for S.N.L.
And wrote a lot of jokes
'Though I'm smug and condescending
Overbearing and aloof
My presence in the Senate
Makes it filibuster-proof!

Now that I'm here in the Senate
I won't have a thing to do
I'm gonna write a new book
Called "Hannity Lies Too!"
I'll reward by core supporters
In the new recovery
I'll send billions in bailouts
To my pals at N.B.C.

For I'm Senator Al Franken
Darling of the left wing folks
I used to work for S.N.L.
And wrote a lot of jokes
'Though I'm smug and condescending
Overbearing and aloof
My presence in the Senate
Makes it filibuster-proof!

Now that I'm here in the Senate
My story's not complete
Without a nod to ACORN
Who helped me get my seat
'Though there's scores of allegations
It's as clear as clear can be
For the folks in Minnesota
Once elected Jesse V.

For I'm Senator Al Franken
Darling of the left wing folks
I used to work for S.N.L.
And wrote a lot of jokes
'Though I'm smug and condescending
Overbearing and aloof
My presence in the Senate
Makes it filibuster-proof!

franken sucked the right parts to eliminate many absentee military votes, and he had WAY more votes than what was registered. liberals just dont care what they have to do to win. no integrity. how come no parodies on o-12000 more troops, 57 states-dumba and his bail out the rich while taxing the poor ? NO INTEGRITY. doesnt matter who won, it does matter if you sold your soul to win. liberals should be ashamed of thier sell out just to win. so, how's the economy? how bout getting the troops home? how bout unemployment? and ha ha union workers, you've used our tax dollars for enough years now to enable millions of illegals to soon take your pay and jobs. i laught at your selling of the soul. it will bite you, and NO, BUSH IS NO LONGER TO BLAIM - YOU ARE !

This might have been even better if the choruses were varied, but it was still quite good. I think that the election of third party candidate Jesse Ventura made a lot of sense compared to the election of Senator Franken.

Franken-stein scary parody. Yet another politician with no qualifications other than he was in TV and/or movies, or wrestling.

Funny -- and sad too. I live in Minnesota, but not IN the Twin Cities, where lots of his votes came from and where most of the dumb-as-a-box-of-hammers liberals reside. And John Jenkins is right -- Jesse made a lot of sense -- that campaign and election was a whole different thing. You had to have been here.
