The Lyrics

I decided to post an original song, that I was inspired to write while mowing my yard one day. This song is not meant to be taken seriously, it is meant to be funny. The song is to be sung in a "bluegrassy", "folky" manner, thus the double negatives so prevalent in country-western music.
Oh, I'm gonna shoot my neighbor's dog,
If it keeps crappin in my yard,
Just tie it up to that ol' oak tree,
It really ain't that hard,
It rolls around, chews my grass,
Then leaves its calling card,
Oh, I swear I'll shoot my neighbor's dog,
If it keeps crappin in my yard.

Oh, I'm gonna shoot my neighbor's dog,
If they don't build a fence,
Lettin that pooch roam around,
Just don't make no sense,
I've issued my last warning,
They must be really dense,
But I'm not afraid to shoot their dog,
If they don't build a fence.

Oh, I'm gonna shoot my neighbor's dog,
If it howls again at night,
Takin away my hard-earned sleep,
Well, that just ain't right,
I've complained more than one time,
But it just ain't worth the fight,
So I'll just shoot my neighbor's dog,
It if howls again at night.

Hi Mike. I'm still sort of new to the site, despite my position on the contributors list. I haven't gotten around to everyone yet, but I saw your tirade about the voting, and thought I'd look at your stuff to see why maybe you were being singled out. What I see of the parodies certainly doesn't warrant it. But I'm curious about this song. I thought originals weren't allowed. If they were, I'd soon be up there with Tong and Malcolm. I have yet to vote on any of your stuff because I haven't really looked till today. (See? the rant did some good.) But I wonder if someone saw this original and got upset at you for "cheating". So far, it's the only one I've seen. When I get ones, I just figure I'm mocking someone's favorite song. Often mine. I don't really care, I'm just in it for the comraderie of other warped minds.

Thanks Rick, perhaps that's why, who knows. I felt this song was appropriate for the site because it was completely ridiculous, stupid, and parody-esque. I try not to make originals a habit, but this one was just a silly break from the ordinary. Hopefully, you like some of our other stuff - not just the ones that have lots of votes, I know most of my favorites are the ones with 20 or less votes. I'll try to check out some of your stuff.
