The Lyrics

It's one thing to not know your lines. It's quite another to know them but not know when to say them...
Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm

The cue for your entrance and line (line)
Just happened but you watched it pass by (ah, ah)
Missed your cue, tempted to drop you (drop you)
Perfect for the role, you're hard to let go
That's not what I wanna do (no, no)
But I'm gonna snap if you stand there like a doof (huh?)
I know you're able to read (to read)
Highlighted your lines in green
So why can't you take a highlighter, buddy
And mark what's before you? In bright red, maybe
'Cause the oblivious look you give me
Is one that I'd remove (hard) with an RPG (blast it)
But you should feel lucky that that kinda thing's against the law
And also pretty messy, hate to clean your dumb ass off the floor
So it seems that we're stuck with you never recallin' it's your turn to speak
A simple skill to learn, least that's my old thinkin', it's somethin' I might rethink

Cue's up, how is that too much? You've screwed up, your cue missed (cue missed)
Stuck in your vortex, stuck in your vortex
Cue missed, restart, it's nonsense, can say your lines perfect (perfect)
But on time? Not rarely, it's "never", won't vary

We've tried raisin' eyebrows your way (way)
Tried coughin', tappin' feet, but there's no change (zero change)
Rewrote your character even ('fraid so)
To justify those loud trumpeter notes
Pattern of unmitigated failure, gonna drive me crazy
No, I'm sorry, that is not the proper way for me to phrase it
It implies I've not gone mad yet but that's rot
Mate, each pause that you make just drives me further into a homicidal rage

Cue's up, it can't be too much but once more, your cue's missed (cue missed)
Stuck in your vortex (i-ee-i-ee-i), stuck in your vortex (cue's up)
Cue missed a-but you can promptly say that you can learn it (learn it) (can't learn it, no)
Sorry, I'm not very convinced, kinda wary
Cue's up, how is it too much? First damn line, your cue's missed, oh, cue's missed, oh
Cue missed and there's a hundred more to come, not worth it, worth it, no
Cue's up but it's just too much for you, I guess, cue's missed
Cue's missed (i-ee-i-ee-i), each cue's missed (cue's up)
Cue missed, I bet that your understudy there can learn it
All of us can't carry you live, where's my sherry (can't learn it, learn it)?

I don't know if the music for this was meant to sound like glue being applied to paper, but whatever it was it was unsettling. I know that's Melanie's whole schtick but still, glad I wasn't using my headphones.
