Song Parodies -> God's Left America

Original Song Title:

"God Bless America"

Original Performer:

Kate Smith

Parody Song Title:

"God's Left America"

Parody Written by:

Barry J. Mitchel

USA's current enemies without are motivated by religion, while its enemies within (both private and governmental) seek to strip citizens of public-square expression or display of religious symbols. May we never have cause to sing my parody of Irving Berlin's patriotic song.
Vile reformers blather when a cross they see,
Will declare misfeasance or insanity.
Let us not be hateful, or take stands unfair,
Or erase the choices that we all can share.

God blessed America, land where .GOV
Stands astride her, derides her,
Bill of Rights in its sights, feigning love.
Comes the fountain of all caring,
Spewing social might in tome.
God's left America; in His seat's Homme;
Godless, America may repeat Rome.
GOV is big government, and tomes are the giant bills it writes but fails to read before voting. Homme is French for Mankind. Secular Rome 16 centuries ago fell to barbarians. 1s for How Funny?

I like the fact that you included the rarely heard intro to this song. Once again we are in perilous times.

Eloquent! ;D

Mark, is that a cheer or my penance? Patrick, the intro really prepares one for the rather harsh accusations and warning. OMR, you always choose words economically and (I hope) wisely.
