Original Song Title:

"Silent Night"

Original Performer:

Joseph Mohr & Franz Xavier Gruber

Parody Song Title:

"Soylent Green"

Parody Written by:

The Comedian

The Lyrics

Soylent Green
Wholly green
But it's not
What it seems

Ground-round ur--chins, mothers and child
Protein substitute, tender and mild
Eat-in' Evan, Lee, Stee-eeve
Eat--in' Ev-an, Lee, Steve

Soylent Green
Wholly green
Shepherd-shake
Pat's ice cream

Gory streams from levers that saw
E-ve-ry ghost sings "Now I'm food, yah!"
Priced for flavor, and more--ore
Pri-iced for fla-vor, and more

Soylent Green
Wholly green
Bun of Claude
Doug's pure spleen

Radiant beams of ionize-rays
Kill the spawn of Green's teeming phage
Feed the hoards of thy Earrrrth
Fee-eed the hoards, of thy Earth

Damn you Johnny! :-)

I have a 25% written parody named "Green soylent" in my sketchbook. Was thinking that if I ever finished it would definitely be the first one on AmIright about that old movie. But nothing's too obscure for you, made it nr 1 again! :-)

I first read Make Room! Make Room! (the book on which Soylent Green is based) more than twenty years ago - and strongly recommend it, along with just about everything else Harry Harrison has written, to anyone who's only seen the film. Excellent parody, JD, to a subject I'd not really thought about parodying :-)

A brilliant parody perfectly executed (just like your lunch!) I love how The Simpsons always have a Soylent Green joke when projecting the future. Nibble on these 5s.

It's not easy being Soylent Green.

What, for a man of good taste such as yourself, Spaff? Heh heh. Thanks very much! ;-)

Of course, I'll have to check out the campy sci-fi movie now. Thanks for the tip!

Now we know Johnny D's two missions in life: To be served by women, and to serve man.

Thanks, Michael. Oh and by the way, it's not an encyclopedia.....it's a COOKBOOK!
