Original Song Title:

"Cheek to Cheek"

Original Performer:

Irving Berlin

Parody Song Title:

"Geek to Geek"

Parody Written by:

Rick Duncan

The Lyrics

Love has taken on a new path here in the "Zeros"....
Mailin'- I'm E mailin'
Finding someone like you on line is unique
Yes, I've really learned to loved you this past week
Every day conversing with you geek to geek

Devin, my name's Devin
I weigh 305; my nose is quite a beak
And in social situations I can't speak
But still I'm with you conversing geek to geek

Oh, I'd to venture outdoors
But the sunlight makes me shriek
So I order pizza, click the mouse
Palaver geek to geek

Oh, I wish I were a He-man
That looked and dressed so chic
But faded genes from mother
And I'm in here geek to geek

(Come on and) send me files
I want to know about you
Promise I won't out you
It's all I can do

(Okay it's) Kevin, now I'm Kevin
And so maybe I'm just not the guy you seek
Plus that picture you sent made me go "Eek!"
Still we can chat on line geek to geek

Great! Now I'm starting to think about old Fred Astaire movie-songs...hmm...

5's from this geek!

Nice job, Rick. I gave you 5's across, but I do have a very minor "possible" pace quibble, although it could be my memory of the original song: "But still I'm with you conversing geek to geek" I think would fit and sound perfect if it were "But I'm still with you here conversing geek to geek". Not enough of a problem to lower the pacing score at any rate. and I could be wrong.

... and "learned to loved you"? Your proof-reading's getting nearly to my standard, Rick ;-) But this is the song of the day for me (maybe it's because I'm a geek, as well, that I love geeky songs.. hmm maybe there's one in there, too)

Phil, caught me again. Paul, I try to count syllables, but I may have miscounted. One cool thing about those old songs is they are usually very exact. Same pacing, same rhymes. Very educational for new songwriters.

When you mention "the zeros" are you referring to binary? Ha ha. Or is it a commentary about this guy's chances of getting a date in the real world?

funny....and so true..."everyone's cuter when 'seen' on computer"

Oh I see -- the "zeros", meaning this decade... duh. Strangely enough, I did interpret that in the binary way. But the nerd pun is interesting too. Nicely done.
