Damming in the dark—trees have chewed ends.
They’re damming in the dark, so have few friends.
They’re walking with a waddle as pines they shear;
High ones now lie; once here, they’re gone.

Hooking in a bite, they have yew love;
Their shiny teeth are white, they have chew love.
Then they can taste the new twigs so tender,
Damming in the dark.

Cut, though trunks are old. . .
Cutting rodents bold
They fell the old and young;

Hear them start on pine;
Soon it is supine.
Clear cuts. . .chomp trees like Beer Nuts.

Looking when it’s light, we see chewed trunks;
Their biting is a blight. . .bark-stripped nude trunks,
So we will have some new swigs, a bender
