Song Parodies -> "Jung at Heart"

Original Song Title:

"Young at Heart"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Frank Sinatra

Parody Song Title:

"Jung at Heart"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

The Lyrics

Fairy tails you construe as archetypes, then you
Must be Jung at heart.
Unlike Sigmund, you mine not recesses of mind,
'cause you're Jung at heart.

You don't go to extremes of dissecting your dreams,
Seeking seamy sex scenes with your mom sans her jeans.
And life's not discontentment, and you're feeling gay,
But not in the way that that word's used today.

You don't think there's a dearth of merriment and mirth,
Then you're Jung at heart.
More like Groucho you are as you suck your cigar,
Yet your lungs don't smart.

Should a serpent arrive, you don't engage in jive
About unconscious drive and a symbolic swive.
And here is the breast part: you didn't depart
From lunging at lungs. . .never too young to start.

Shudders to think what would have happened had Jung met Martin Luther King: "Zo, Reverend, tell me more about zis dream?" (MLK was just 10 when Freud died, but Jung lived on until 1961.)

You did your homework and so you get an A. By the way, don't you know that great ideas come from dreaming? When Elias Howe invented the sewing machine he couldn't figure out how to make a sewing machine needle until he had a dream about men with spears that hat holes in the tips.

Oh, to be Jung again... 2Eagle, check out how the structural formula for benzene was discovered. Scientist fell asleep in front of the fireplace... dreamt of flames dancing, which became snakes dancing.... then one bit its own tail. He awoke with a start and said, "It's a ring!"

I don't believe it! Just the other day, I was thinking of doing a parody by the same name!! (Add it to the K-Tell Existential Rock collection, along with Neil Diamonds' "I Am I Said"). Oh well, maybe I'll do "Jung Love". Great job! Fivesies!
