I remember prosperity. I remember my mother in law putting money down on her condo which she lost last year. I remember gas prices less than $4.00/gallon. I remember more banks, less mergers. I remember not being angry at my White House administration. I remember a young lady and the elected leader of our country making a really stupid mistake which did not affect the stock market or needed to require impeachment proceedings. I remember being hopeful.

"Prosperity" = 70% growth in GDP, + 70% growth in household (non-mortgage) debt, i.e. a boom financed by credit cards only. Nasdaq boom and bust, losing 80%. Bombing of Cole, American Embassy, and WTC = nothing done.
Pressure from HUD on banks to lend to minorities regardless of qualification, so Admin can claim "increased home-ownership" = creation of "sub-prime" mortgage market, a house of cards finally collapsing, but started and built in the 90s.
I remember being very angry at my WH Admin. Filegate, Travelgate, arranging Vince Foster not to testify, permanently.
In a world and economy this complex and large, cause and effect aren't always instantaneous. The current admin has made tragic mistakes.So did the previous admin, and we're paying now, so whitewashing the facts or having rosy memories is not logical. Neither is giving a 1 on "Pacing" simply because you disagree with the message.

So, how is the boom and collapse in the Nasdaq, which cost a lot of people their 401ks, savings, etc., any different from today's stock market, other than today it's down 20% from its high and the Nasdaq lost 80%? You can blame both on the Presidents if that's your wish, although not factually sound, or you can blame neither, but you can't blame one admin for the 20% loss without blaming the other for the 80% loss. Not logically, anyway.

And did you have an answer for the part about the subprime mortgage market originating during the Clinton admin, and under pressure to increase % of minority home-ownership to make a catchy campaign claim? Or that the alleged prosperity came from households piling on a mountain of debt, with the US savings rate shrinking to the lowest in the industrialized world? Savings being the foundation of investment, jobs, and prosperity, and yes, we are paying now for our instant-gratification, savings-less, debt-ridden household balance sheets, a trend that most definitely started in the 90s.
