Song Parodies -> "404!"

Original Song Title:

"Let it Snow!"

Original Performer:

Dean Martin

Parody Song Title:

"404!"

Parody Written by:

Rex Ungericht

The Lyrics

404 is pronounced "four-oh-four" in this parody. 301 is pronounced "three-oh-one". 410 is pronounced "four-ten".
On the internet you will find it
As the standards group defined it
It’s the error we all abhor
404! 404! 404!

A file or page is missing
And it makes me feel like dissing
“Your site design’s pretty poor –
404! 404! 404!”

If you set up your server right
Then you won’t show this error again
And your message will be polite
Like 301 or 410!

My x-rated links aren’t working
To the sites I’m often lurking
And those gambling sites offshore
404! 404! 404!
From Wikipedia: "A 404 error is often returned when pages have been moved or deleted. In the first case, a better response is to return a 301 Moved Permanently response, which can be configured in most server configuration files, or through URL rewriting; in the second case, a 410 Gone should be returned."

At last! A 404 parody that I actually know! 5-5-5! I'd much rather have 409 or 440, you know?

I think this is probably my favourite of the many 404 parodies so far - I've just written a "helpful" one, myself, and recognized your quote from the wiki page (which is still open in the background).

Excellent, Rex. This is my favorite 404 parody thus far as well. =)

Lawl, I gave it a 4-0-4 :P It's a great song but I just voted 4-0-4 to fool around :P

Heh...I don't know if the song would've been funny alone, but having it actually redirected from a real 404 error was clever. Anyway, I happened to see it near Christmas too.
