Slowed to a crawl

It's such a pain
Least I've made my "I'm late for work" call (call)
I used to go sixty k's down this street but it's twenty-five now
Passin' the time tryna think if I know how to convert that mess into miles
Phone does that easy but I know that's not on
May be slow but drive-phonin' is still wrong

How many damn blocks are they holdin' up?
All I see are orange poles and big piles of mud
I'm in despair bein' forced to merge over
To the right because that's not my exit lane

Turnin' my trip from a light breeze to a heavy slog

Can't tell the diff'rence when I'm drivin' and when I'm stopped
They're fixin' up this shitty road
I've moaned about this shitty road
Glad once they're done and fixed the road
But in the moment, it just sucks

So impatient, I want to go, my late place in this line just blows
That one guy with the sign that shows when we can stop and when to go
Flicks it back and forth, too constant, obnoxious, swear it's on purpose, so monstrous
But it's more likely I've flipped, restless from the sheer lack of progress

My mood is also flippin' and floppin'
Though I've got my music on, only does so much
I swear though, if it somehow cycles over
I'm gonna blare the horn with my head, I'm drained

I take the same route ev'ryday, hope I've not gone nuts
Sure this was not a crappy road
I don't recall a crappy road
Not like I want a cracked-up road
But the construction process sucks

Couple guys diggin' a hole and lots of guys doin' straight nothin'
Nothin' that really unusual for in-progress construction
Almost wishin' that there was rain, that'd ruin these assholes' day
But I guess that would also mean for me a much greater delay
