Parody Song Title:

"MAD Christmas"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

MAD Magazine antics!
I'm dreaming of a MAD Christmas
The usual gang of idiots we know
Letters to Editor dissin'
And sanity dismissin'
Alfred E. Neuman doesn't worry and it shows!

I'm dreaming of a MAD Christmas
In school must keep it out of sight
Teachers say it's not witty nor bright
The Spies: one is black, the other's white

I'm dreaming of a MAD Christmas
And it's rear inward fold
Melvin & Jenkins beckon
TV shows wrecked and
There's this weird kid named Monroe

I'm dreaming of a MAD Christmas
With panels on The Lighter Side
The Fundalini section is so wide
And where odd parodies reside

I love MAD magazine and I've been collecting them for over a decade now ever since I was in High School. I even have a few of the older issues back from the 70s and 80s. One I have has Gremlins on the cover and I have it signed by Zach Galligan. Here is my tribute to MAD: http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/dido39.shtml

Matthias, I started collecting in 1973! I also used to collect Cracked, Crazy, and Sick, but later sold my collections. I regret that. With this parody, I cover most of the materials of MAD, but some are dated/discontinued like Melvin & Jenkins and Monroe. I also miss Duke Bissel's Tales of Undisputed Interest.

Rob, have you checked out the MAD television program yet? (not MADTV, the animated one, that aired on Cartoon Network a few years ago.) 455

No Jon, it's not listed, but I'll keep an eye out for it.

Rob, as a MAD fan since the 1960s, I love the idea behind this parody! Usually I have a problem with your pacing, and some of your lines are off, but this time you have more lines on-pace than you usually do. You're getting better! Some of your lines made me laugh. Pretty good job! 4-5-4. BTW, have you seen The MAD Stocking Stuffer, this Christmas' Special Collector's Edition? madcoversite.com/mad-sce15-mad_stocking_stuffer.html

There are 4, verses, 18 lines. "I'm dreaming of a MAD Christmas," which is the first line of each verse, is a slam dunk. So that leaves only 14 straightforward lines with which to match the syllable count. But the parody's syllable count is wrong in 4 lines in the first verse, 1 line in the second verse, 2 lines in the third verse, and 2 lines in the fourth verse. In sum, out of 14 lousy lines requiring basic effort at pacing, our hero blew 9 of them! He gets 35.71428% right, which is a failing grade in any venue. You're too charitable, Melanie. Rob is not getting better, and he doesn't care about getting better. He's as uninterested as ever in the detail of parody. How un-German! He even dismisses us as Pacing Polizei. He's interested only in the Prussian prolificacy of his parody production line.

^^^ has anyone bothered to look at Melanie Lee's author page? Her last ten submissions have overall ratings in the 1s and 2s and her whole record is spotty at best. How can she claim to be a pacing perfectionist? The other guy following her is troll too. I write parodies and make mistakes and know of no one here who hasn't. What gives?

Here I was thinking this was going to be about a Mutually Assured Destruction Christmas...

MAD military strategy is long gone. It doesn't work against asymmetrical warfare, internet-drivemn lone wolf attacks, cyber warfare, and nations that don't fear the use of nuclear weapons.
