The Lyrics

It's you, Eva Gabor
For whom I do my chores
You'll be the charmer on my farm
And the marm on my arm

We must never leave the farm
We must never leave the farm

City born, you're the candy in my corn
Without you, there aren't hotscakes every morn

And you'll gather chicken eggs
You'll pump water with your legs
You'll be the slopper of my sow
And a field for my plow

We must always milk the cow
We must always milk the cow

Babe deluxe, you're the herder of my ducks
Chasing gophers from the taters with a rake
Churning creamery in the urnery
For all the judges at the county fair
To taste

Get up at three thirty
To root in the ruts
For this I left the city
I think I taste sod
To you I drive my tractor
With you I hoe spuds

We may go a little nuts

Picking lima beans, pulling turnip greens
Inserting pecks of pickles into brine
What a sport, with the chickens you cavort
Plucking feathers for the pillows of your dreams
And mine

We talk on a party line

And you'll pasturize my peat
You'll squash boll weevils with your feet
You will never wilt or droop
And you'll make hot water soup

In bed by seven thirty
With you I crop share
For me you left the city
For you I breathe air

In Green Acres we are there

Sir, according to MervGriffin, she made the best Goulash & PapriGash, too!

Haven't seen the classic show but I didn't really need to. This was a great song about farm life. I really enjoyed it because it was an unusual topic especially when compared to the original song. Pretty cool song there Porfle!

Thanks a lot! Hope you check out the show sometime, it's pretty surreal.

I dont know if you actually instilled the spirit of the show into this parody other than the last line), which I was kind of expecting. But as a love song to rural living, it works quite well.

Thanks, yeah I was going for a different vibe with this one. Maybe get into Oliver's obsessive psyche a little more than usual.

(Artistry) I've never heard of the show, hell, I only really know of Eva Gabor through her sister because she voiced Miss Bianca in The Rescuers. Still, as a mildly silly love song about farming, this works quite well,, and the pacing was spot on. Pretty good work here, Porfle!

I'm sorry, what is this about? I guess a farmer. . .from other comments I guess its about a show, sorry Profle, I'm completely lost on the source material and as such I read it purely as a parody about farming. . .

You should check out an episode or two of "Green Acres" sometime. You're missing out!

This became more poignant with the recent death of Mr. Drucker (Frank Cady). Excellent writing, but if you'll excuse me I'll be over at Petticoat Junction (woo! woo!)

(Artistry) LIke Dave, I too have no idea what your talking about specifically, but I also agree with the consensus that as a general farming/romance parody, it pretty good. Not your best by far though.

Thanks, Rex! I was also saddened by the loss of ol' Sam Drucker. Blayde, your assignment, if you choose to accept it--watch "Green Acres"!
