The Lyrics

Well, this will make what I think is my third and hope to be final attempt at the original song "Smells Like Teen Spirit". I don't know what it is about that song, but I have one hell of a time getting the pacing right whenever I try to revise or redo the parody, in this case I did EVERYTHING I could possibly do, I got the original lyrics, I got Weird Al Yankovic's "Smells Like Nirvana" lyrics, I listened, and listened to the song over and over, over and over, and I even bought and downloaded the sheet music for piano/voice/guitar, with lyric line as well. I tried to cover every corner and leave no stone unturned this time. So I hope, I hope! I've done better!! :-o Also, in the sense of verbal offense :-) I have edited this version, so unlike the old versions, the explicit lyrics have been changed to cleaner and nicer ones. ;-)
Go steal a gun
Pack a knife
Let the peer pressure run your life
Then get into, a life of crime
Cody man, she's a waste of time.

Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over

Cause it smells like, New Granada
We all live here, But we don’t wanna
So this song is, for Nirvana
I guess you could, call it karma
I'm flashing, and 'I'm bashing
I'm smashing, and 'I'm trashing
Yeah!

The cops don't stay, on their beat
You’ll get busted walking down the street
Deputy dog, he makes me sick,
Had a nail file, longer than his stick.

Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over

When school is out, we get dangerous!
Here we are now educate us!
From their offspring, sprouts our madness!
We’re hooked on drugs, minds are dismissed!
I'm flashing, and 'I'm bashing
I'm smashing, and 'I'm trashing
Whoa!

(Instrumental Break….)

And I forgot, just why I was late,
I had to pee, I mean urinate.
I’ll go as straight, as I walk the line,
Adios you narcy's, nevermind

Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over, We go.
Over, Over, Over

We are all now, incorrigible
Here we are to, turn the table
We are enraged, and are hateful
Here we are now, we’re unstable
We’re flashing, and We’re bashing
We’re smashing, and We’re trashing

Going over, Going over,
Going over, Going over,
Going over, Going over,
Going over, Going over,

Over The Edge!
In the case that I have done poorly with this parody again, please leave a comment, that might help me in the future, even though I really don't plan to post this again. It still will help me in doing grunge, so maybe, when I do another song from Nirvana, I will not do as bad. Also a vote would be very nice to have as well! :-)

This song is about the 1979 movie “Over The Edge” Directed by Jonathan Kaplan. It stars Matt Dillion, and many other young actors and actresses. Kurt Cobain’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” he said was based from the movie, so I guess I did a parody, based toward the movie. You can look it up at Wikipedia under “Over The Edge (film)” if you are unsure of the film.

JIN - Sounds like New Granada is as far from Buddha's Nirvana as is possible. Evocative and stark...not to mention nicely done. ;D

Thank You for your vote and comment OMR! and I agree, New Granada couldn't come within 500,00 miles are Buddha's Nirvana, also I don't think that the mayor of the town is going to erect a statue of Buddha in the middle of the town's square anytime soon! ;-D Looks like I might have finally got the pacing right this time, we'll see what other people think too. ;-) Thanks again! :-)

OMR-You may already be aware of this, but it was supposed to be 500,000 miles, not 500,00 miles. For some reason or another the letters/numbers on my keyboard sometimes do not show up when I press them. :-o

Odd choice of movie to draw a parody on, but if Cobain was inclined to write SLTS from that, then that is smart. DKTOmovie. Compare my "Jameskurtjoycecobain #1: Stephen Dedalus" for an equally odd parody inspiration (and a comparison of pacing). Good job.

Thanks Agrimorfee for your vote/comment, Yes Kurt Cobain was inspired to write "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the movie "Over The Edge" his favorite character that he compared himself to was Claude. ;-)

OMR: Yes, New Granada is very far from Buddha's Nirvana, but in the parody I was not referring to Buddha when I said "This song is for Nirvana" I was referring to the music group Nirvana" and the karma was the parody of the very song based on the movie that inspired "Smells Like Teen Spirit." ;-)
